About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, I’m Katy, a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor offering a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly and feel genuinely heard.
Finding the right therapist is an important first step. My aim is to build a compassionate and trusting relationship in which you feel able to be open, without fear of judgement. Therapy can offer a space for you to reconnect with what is truly important and to revisit the narratives you have held about your life.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or a period of change or uncertainty. Or you may simply feel that something isn’t quite right and want the space to understand yourself and your feelings better.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I believe that a trusting relationship is at the heart of effective counselling, and I work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I won’t judge you or tell you what you should do. Instead, we can explore what is happening in your life, understand the patterns or experiences that may be affecting you, and work towards changes that feel right for you.
My practice is trauma-informed, placing your emotional safety and well-being at the centre of our work together, helping you navigate the healing process at your own pace.
I work with adults and young people and recognise that everyone comes to counselling with their own experiences, personality and needs. I adapt the way I work accordingly rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

How I work
Alongside traditional face-to-face counselling, I also offer walking therapy in and around Richmond. Some people find it easier to talk while walking side-by-side rather than sitting opposite someone in a counselling room. Being outdoors and moving can also help conversations feel more natural and less intense.
Whether we meet indoors or outside, my aim is to provide a calm and supportive environment where you can be yourself and explore whatever is important to you.
I am a member of the BACP, fully insured and undertake regular supervision and continual professional development.
My first session
Reaching out can feel like a big step, but taking that first small step can help you feel heard, understood and supported. If this approach feels right for you, I welcome the opportunity of a free 15 minute online consultation. We can briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and to see if we could be a good fit, as well as answering any questions you might have about what to expect from counselling. There will be no pressure or obligation to continue.
Sessions
I offer counselling at The Practice Rooms in Richmond, South West London, as well as walking therapy locally.
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £60. A student rate can also be discussed.
