About me and my therapy practice

At times, life can feel overwhelming- especially when anxiety, stress or peri-natal changes begin to cloud your sense of peace and affect your daily life.

You may be finding that low self esteem or confidence is affecting where you would like to be in your life and are ready to work on this.

You may be feeling burnt out from your caring duties and needing space of your own to offload and take some much deserved space and time to take care of you!

Perhaps you are struggling to conceive, are pregnant or recently had a baby and notice that you need some support for your mental wellbeing at this life changing time.

You may be grieving or coming to terms with a loss and want some quiet time to do this in your own way.

My counselling practise offers you a kind, nurturing space, where you can pause, take time for you and be truly heard.

My approach is warm and supportive, helping you feel heard, understood and empowered. I am a personable, down-to-earth and welcoming person, who aims to create a safe and relaxed space for you, where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

I practise online (UK-wide), my approach is integrative; meaning I will tailor the session to suit what you need at the time, blending the person-centred and psychodynamic modalities.

I work with a variety of adults with different issues however I have special interest in working with those who may be experiencing the following issues.

Anxiety

Stress and overwhelm

Grief

Low self-esteem and confidence

The effects of being a carer

Peri-natal mental health

Practice description

I offer counselling for adults feeling, anxious, sad or overwhelmed. Therapy for women in the peri-natal period and those with low self-esteem and confidence.

I draw upon two different counselling approaches, depending on what you need, session to session. Using the person-centred approach means I will not pressure you into talking about a particular area of your life, instead I will walk alongside you, at your pace, to focus on the areas you choose. Our working relationship is imperative to the therapeutic process, and you will get from me the promise to have your best interests at heart, to be honest with you and to treat you with compassion and respect.

The second approach I am trained in is called psychodynamic therapy. One of the elements of this approach is considering together how your past experiences and early relationships have an impact on your current relationships, behaviour and beliefs.

With knowledge comes power, and bringing areas into your awareness is often the first step to making lasting, positive change.

Please visit my website for more information about how I could help you, the way that I work with my clients, and to find out a little bit more about me as a counsellor.

My first session

Finding the right counsellor is imperative to your experience and therapeutic journey. The working relationship that we build together is part of the process that supports the work we do and progress that is made.

When you decide to work with me after our initial free phone call, I will ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with how the process of therapy works and focus on fostering trust, safety and understanding from the get go.

In your first full counselling session with me, we'll start getting to know each other, we'll touch upon what has bought you to counselling now, what's been going on for you and what it is that you might like to gain from coming to therapy. There will be no pressure though, if you are unsure what the answers may be, we can figure that out together.
