I am a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist.
BACP accreditation is a quality standard for experienced practitioners already registered with the BACP, who can demonstrate a recognised standard of professional excellence and ethical practice aligned with BACP's Ethical Framework and column B of the SCoPEd Framework, evidencing higher levels of training and clinical experience.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy from comfortable practice rooms in Tiverton, Mid Devon. I also work online with clients across the UK.
Fifty-minute sessions are available throughout the working day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including lunchtime, early morning and early evening appointments.
I understand that it can feel difficult to get in touch, and will make this initial contact as easy as I can for you. Please feel free to email me at emma@exeterpsychotherapy.co.uk or to phone me on 01392 241202. This is a dedicated Exeter Psychotherapy line with confidential messaging and answerphone services. If I am unable to take your call, please feel free to leave a brief message with your name and contact details. I will return your call, usually the same day, and always within 48 working hours.

About me and my therapy practice
Might it help to talk?
I am a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer counselling and psychotherapy from comfortable practice rooms in Tiverton, Mid Devon. I also work online with clients across the UK.
I work with a wide range of issues, including bereavement and loss; complex grief; anxiety; stress; depression; relationship problems and difficulties from the past that are causing problems in the present.
I also work with clients who are feeling stuck, struggling with their sense of self or with their relationships, or who are noticing patterns in their life that are unhelpful. Although some people come to me with a clear sense of what the problem is, others just know that something's not right. Whatever it is that brings you into therapy, I’m here to help and, if I don’t feel that I am the best person to help you, I will offer to support you in finding someone who is better able to meet your needs.
If we are working together longer term, we can gain a clearer sense of how your unconscious thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour may be shaping your experiences and relationships in the here-and-now. This can be especially helpful if we notice that you are stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving or relating to others. In this way, therapy can help you to gain new insights into what is going on for you in the present moment. It can also give you the space and permission to make meaning and to understand yourself better.
I believe that you matter, that change is possible and that good therapy can help. Do get in touch for an initial chat.
Practice description
Not all therapists are the same, and it is important to find the right therapist for you.
I offer the reassurance of being a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist, together with a free, fifty minute initial online consultation to give us the chance to explore whether we might like to work together. This is a fifty-minute consultation and there is absolutely no obligation to book any further sessions.
If you would like to find out more about my practice before you get in touch, please feel free to have a look at my website www.exeterpsychotherapy.co.uk. This includes more information about my training, qualifications and experience, and what working together might look like.
As well as offering in-person sessions from comfortable practice rooms in Tiverton, mid-Devon, I also work online with clients across the UK.
I am English/French bilingual, and offer therapy sessions in both languages.
My first session
It's important to find the right therapist for you.
I offer the reassurance of being a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist, together with a free, initial 50-minute online consultation. This enables you to find out a bit more about me, to decide whether I am someone you would like to work with, and to ask any questions you may have. It also enables me to find out a bit more about you and what you are looking for and to feel confident that I can offer you the help you are looking for. If not, I will try to support you to find someone better suited to your needs.
If we decide that we would like to work together, we would usually agree a regular, weekly appointment for you, either at my practice rooms in Tiverton or online. If you are unable to commit to a regular, weekly appointment, perhaps because of work or family commitments, I will do my best to offer you a regular session on a more flexible or ad hoc basis.
