Availability

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist working with all ages, including children (age 9+).

As Director of Supportive Counselling Ltd, I work as part of a team of counsellors and psychotherapists who collectively offer appointments across a wide range of days and times. This includes evenings, weekends, and other times outside of my personal working hours. This allows the practice to offer greater flexibility to suit different availability, preferences, and needs.

My own clinical working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5.30pm. However, please feel free to get in touch if you are looking for appointments outside of these times, as therapy is also available through the wider Supportive Counselling team.

Therapy in these locations is offered online and by telephone, enabling flexible access to support regardless of location. Online and telephone sessions are delivered in the same thoughtful, confidential, and professional way as in person therapy, and can be a supportive and effective option for many people.

If you are unsure whether online or telephone therapy is right for you, I can help you explore the options available.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a compassionate, safe space for adults and children (age 9+) experiencing challenges linked to neurodivergence, trauma, and sleep difficulties. My work focuses on helping you feel understood rather than fixed, supporting you to make sense of what you are going through at a pace that feels right for you.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can offer a place to slow things down, feel heard, and begin to understand what is happening beneath the surface. I provide a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences safely. Sessions are shaped around what feels manageable and supportive for you. There is no expectation to have the right words or know where to start.

I have a specialism in neurodivergence and trauma and work in a neuro affirming and trauma informed way. I understand how long-term stress, masking, and past experiences can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships, self-esteem, and sleep. Together, we explore what has shaped you while also focusing on practical ways to support the present. I work with curiosity, compassion, and honesty, adapting therapy to suit how you think, feel, and communicate.

Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to you. A free initial consultation offers time to ask questions and see whether my approach feels like a good fit.

I work with experiences including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, low self-esteem, stress, burnout, sleep difficulties, bereavement, family and relationship issues, work related challenges, and trauma.

Alongside talking therapy, I offer Rewind Trauma Therapy, an effective approach for trauma that can help reduce or stop intrusive memories and involuntary recall, often within a small number of sessions.

My aim is to offer a steady, compassionate space where understanding and meaningful change can take place, focusing on what feels most important for you right now.

Practice description

Supportive Counselling offers a space where you can talk and feel heard. The practice is grounded in compassion, respect, and curiosity, creating an environment where people of all ages can explore their experiences.

I work with adults, children, and adolescents, offering a flexible approach to therapy. Alongside talking therapy, I also use creative approaches such as play, art, and Lego therapy where helpful. These approaches can be supportive for children, young people, and those who find it easier to express themselves in non-verbal ways. Trauma therapy is also available, with care taken to work gently and at a pace that feels manageable.

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor and psychotherapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS check and have over 20 years of experience, training, and personal insight in autism and neurodivergence.

I am also a registered member of the International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy (IARTT) and trained by Dr Muss. Rewind Trauma Therapy is a structured approach for trauma that can help reduce or stop intrusive memories and involuntary recall, often within a small number of sessions.

My background includes managing a charity counselling project, mentoring trainee counsellors, and working with complex and sensitive cases. I have experience across both NHS and charity settings, supporting individuals with a wide range of needs. These experiences shape my commitment to ethical, compassionate, and effective therapeutic work.

Therapy at Supportive Counselling is always tailored to the individual. I work with issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, bereavement, self-esteem difficulties, and relationship challenges, adapting sessions to suit each person’s needs and circumstances.

Flexible options are available, including online and telephone therapy across the UK, allowing support to continue in a way that fits with your life.

My first session

Before arranging a first session, I offer a free 20-minute consultation by telephone or online. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, and get a sense of whether this feels like the right support for you before committing to sessions.

The first session is a gentle introduction to therapy and a chance for us to begin getting to know one another. It offers space to talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with, and to explore whether my approach feels right for you. There is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to, and we work at a pace that feels manageable.

Many people find it helpful to read more about what happens in a first counselling session before starting. I have written a detailed blog that explains what to expect and aims to help clients feel more prepared and at ease:

https://supportivecounselling.co.uk/first-counselling-session-support-what-to-expect/

If Rewind Trauma Therapy is being considered, this will always be discussed carefully in advance. Rewind is different from other imaginal exposure therapies as there is no requirement to disclose details of the traumatic event. For this reason, it is often described as closure without disclosure.

Rewind Trauma Therapy aims to reduce or stop involuntary recall of traumatic memories while voluntary recall remains. Single event trauma often requires two to three sessions. For multiple or complex trauma, sessions are planned carefully depending on how the trauma presents.

Practical information, session arrangements, and payment details are explained clearly before beginning therapy.

I work with adults, children, and adolescents, offering a approach to therapy.
