About me and my therapy practice

Welcome - I'm Sam De Gruchy, a BACP-registered Integrative, Relational Therapist practising in Brighton and online.

If you’re carrying something heavy, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, or wondering what your life is really for - I’m here right alongside you. Therapy is a sacred space where you are fully welcome to arrive just as you are, in a relationship in which you can be genuinely seen and heard. My commitment to you is to support you growing your capacity to navigate a life that is meaningful to you, nurturing an authentic and self-compassionate understanding of yourself.

What might bring you to work with me…

Direction, identity and meaning: asking bigger existential questions, seeking understanding and authenticity in yourself and the world around you. Wanting to feel equipped to live a meaningful life.

Relationships: wanting to work through underlying patterns in current or past relationships - whether romantic, family, professional or friendships.

Anxiety and overwhelm: wanting to learn how to regulate anxiety, as well as tending to and releasing the root cause.

Past experiences: those still impacting the present negatively. Wanting to digest and let go of the past to afford more peace in the present. Releasing those parts currently working overtime to protect you.

I see adults in weekly one-to-one therapy, in Brighton and online. I welcome and work with people of all ethnicities, age, sexualities, genders, relationships and religion categorically and without prejudice.

The work is human, grounded and rooted in genuine connection. Together we make room for what’s happening now, and tend to the deeper patterns underneath - paying care and attention to both.

Practice description

Way of Working

What is Integrative therapy? It is an adaptable and dynamic approach, integrating several therapeutic modalities. It is rooted in our collective humanness, tailored to your personal experience. It also allows us to bring together all the parts of you into, integrating into a sense of wholeness.

What does it mean to work ‘relationally?’ It’s embracing that therapy takes place in relationship between two real people. A genuine relationship creates the space for the real you to continue to emerge and be seen, and the therapeutic alliance between therapist and client is the safe container where our work takes place.

What is Person-centred therapy? We trust your individual process and respect your autonomy. I believe each person has the right to self-determine their own process and life choices, and my practice is rooted in this principle. We recognise that although engaging with therapeutic support, you remain the expert of your own experience. This empowers you to take the work out and integrate into your life outside and beyond therapy.

No two therapeutic journeys are the same. Through building a genuine therapeutic alliance between us, I hold a nurturing space for your personal process to unfold.
