About me and my therapy practice

About Me

You don't have to be in crisis to come to therapy. You just have to know that something needs to change.

I work with people who are feeling anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted. They may find themselves overthinking, struggling to switch off, losing their temper more than they'd like, feeling stuck, disconnected or wondering why the same patterns keep showing up in their lives. Some are living with the lasting impact of a difficult relationship with a parent. Others feel alone in their relationship, despite not being physically alone. From the outside they often look as though they're coping. Inside, it feels very different.

Most people don't come to therapy because they're broken. They come because something no longer feels right and they don't want to keep living the same way.

I'm a BACP registered counsellor with over 30 years' experience working with people through change, first in organisations and now in private practice.

I offer a warm, straightforward and confidential space where you can talk openly without judgement. I'll help you slow things down, untangle what's going on, and understand yourself more clearly, so you can make choices that feel right for you.

Practice description

Who I Work With

I work with adults who want to understand themselves better and make changes in their lives.

Some come during a difficult time or life transition. Others feel stuck in long-term patterns they want to break.

Many feel they are managing on the outside but struggling underneath with anxiety, low mood, or uncertainty.

What to Expect

We meet weekly, either in person in London Bridge or online.

The first session is a chance to see what brings you to therapy and whether we’re a good fit. If we continue, I usually suggest six sessions before reviewing how things are going.

Some people come with a clear issue, others want space to explore things more deeply.

Therapeutic Approach

I work in an integrative way, mainly drawing on existential, humanistic and transpersonal approaches.

In simple terms, we look at both what’s happening now and what may be going on underneath it. Therapy is not fixed or scripted — we shape it together based on what you need.

My aim is to help you understand yourself more clearly so you can make choices that feel more aligned with your life.

My first session

Taking the First Step

Taking the first step towards therapy isn't always easy. Our first session is a chance for us to explore what's brought you here, what's been happening in your life, and what you're hoping might be different.

It's also an opportunity for us to get a sense of one another. A strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of good therapy, so it's important that you feel comfortable working with me.

If we decide to work together, I usually recommend meeting weekly. Lasting change takes time. It comes from slowing things down, understanding yourself more clearly, and having the space to explore thoughts, feelings and patterns that may have been with you for many years.

If I don't believe I'm the right therapist for you, I'll tell you honestly and, wherever possible, help you find someone who is.

The initial session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual session fee.

About me and my therapy practice

You do not have to be in crisis to come to counselling.

I work with men, women and couples.

Sometimes you know what is wrong: anxiety, low mood, anger, loneliness, ADHD or a relationship that is struggling. Sometimes you just know something is not right.

Men

Many of the men I work with have spent years trying to sort things out alone. You lie awake replaying work, money, relationships, what you said or should have said. Then the alarm goes off and you carry on.

You say, “I’m fine.” You are not.

Maybe you withdraw, snap at people you love, work later, drink more than you want to, lose hours on your phone or disappear into porn just to stop thinking for a while.

You want closeness, yet struggle to say what is happening without feeling weak or exposed. We will explore this together.

Women

Many of the women I work with are capable, dependable — and exhausted.

You keep everything moving: work, children, parents, meals, appointments, birthdays, washing, everybody else’s needs.

Then you get into bed and your mind starts. What did I forget? Who needs me tomorrow?

You say yes when you want to say no, then resent it. You snap over the wet towel or plate beside the dishwasher, then feel guilty.

You may have spent so long being useful and responsible that you no longer know what you want. We will explore this together.

Couples

With couples, the row often starts small: the dishwasher, money, sex, the children, the phone, who does more.

But it is rarely really about the dishwasher.

One pushes to be heard. The other shuts down. Voices rise. Someone walks away. Later you sit on the same sofa looking at separate screens, or lie in bed facing opposite directions.

You may still love each other and feel completely alone together.

I am not there to decide who is right. We slow down what keeps happening and listen for what sits underneath the anger or silence. That provides the ground for something different to emerge between you.
