I provide services across the UK and internationally.
About me and my therapy practice
As a counselor, I take a collaborative and supportive approach to help you explore and understand your feelings and thoughts. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable and heard. I focus on what makes you unique, offering empathy and compassion as we work together.
We may discuss things like your past, future goals, culture, and the world around us to help you better understand your emotions. I believe that everyone has the ability to grow and make positive changes. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, empower you to express yourself, and help you find your sense of self in your relationships and community.
Qualifications and Experience:
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Theology. I am currently pursuing a Diploma in Diversity, Cultural Competence, Race, and Anti-discrimination Practice. I have gained valuable experience working at NHS Lambeth Talking Therapies and currently serve as a visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths University, London. I have been practicing as a counselor since 2023.
Practice description
I work integratively, drawing on a variety of complementary modalities such as solution-focused, psychodynamic, and existential approaches. My practice is also influenced by critical psychology, postcolonialism, socialism, and Buddhist principles. As a Filipino-Mexican-American, I bring a unique perspective, particularly when it comes to issues of immigration, identity, otherness, cultural dynamics, self-esteem, racism, and confidence.
Above all, my aim is to support, empower, and listen to you, tailoring our sessions to your unique needs and preferences. I am committed to helping you explore and find what you truly need, fostering a space of care and understanding.
My first session
In the first counselling session, my primary goal is to establish a strong foundation for our work together. I start by creating a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings. I begin by introducing myself and explaining the counselling process, outlining the structure of our sessions, and discussing confidentiality to ensure you feel comfortable and secure in our relationship.
During this initial session, I focus on getting to know you and understanding the reasons you sought counselling. We will explore what has brought you here, your current concerns, and what you hope to achieve from our work together. I take a collaborative approach, asking open-ended questions to give you space to express yourself in your own words, while actively listening and reflecting on what you share. This allows us to start identifying patterns or themes that may be important to your growth and healing.
As we explore your story, I also want to understand the context of your life, including any cultural, familial, or societal factors that may shape your experiences. I will pay close attention to your values, identity, and any challenges you may face. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how we can work together to address your concerns and support your personal growth.
