About me and my therapy practice

Therapy is a collaborative and reflective process grounded in confidentiality, care, and respect. In our work together, attention is given to your thoughts, feelings, desires, and ways of relating, with the aim of supporting deeper understanding over time. This is a space to speak openly and to consider experiences that may be difficult to hold alone, without pressure to reach quick conclusions or solutions.

I do not position myself as an expert on your life. I seldom offer direct advice, and instead support your own capacity to reflect, make sense of your experiences, and determine what feels right for you. At times, I may offer observations or interpretations that open up new ways of understanding what is happening, always guided by your wellbeing and by the pace of the work.

As a Filipino-Mexican-American therapist, my own lived experience of navigating multiple cultures, identity, and otherness informs a thoughtful and respectful therapeutic relationship, particularly when exploring issues of belonging, identity, difference, and self-understanding.

Therapy may also invite broader reflection on identity, purpose, and belonging. Questions such as who you are, who you are becoming, and how you locate yourself in your relationships and in the wider world can be explored gradually and with care. These are not problems to be solved, but areas of inquiry we can hold together over time.

Qualifications and Experience:

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Theology. I recently completed a Diploma in Diversity, Cultural Competence, Race, and Anti-discrimination Practice. I have gained valuable experience working at NHS Lambeth Talking Therapies and currently serve as a visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths University, London. I have been practicing as a counsellor since 2023. I am also a member of the Black, African, Asian Therapy Network.

Practice description

I take an integrative approach, drawing from a range of therapies such as solution-focused, psychodynamic, and existential. My practice is also shaped by critical psychology, socialist values, and Buddhist principles. Most importantly, I adapt my approach to honour each client’s unique worldview, experiences, and needs.

My first session

In our first counselling session, my focus is creating a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable being yourself. I’ll explain how counselling works, what to expect from our sessions, and how confidentiality is handled, so you feel secure from the start.

We’ll spend time getting to know you and exploring what brought you to counselling—your current concerns, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope to gain. I take a collaborative, non-judgmental approach, listening closely and asking thoughtful questions to help identify key themes that matter to you.

By the end of the session, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and clearer about how we can work together to support your growth and wellbeing.
