Features

Availability

I work in private practice on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I see clients online via Zoom or in person, either indoors in a therapy room, or outdoors in parks, the city or by the seafront in Brighton.

Online sessions can be a good option if you have access needs, a busy schedule, or want extra privacy. Meeting indoors offers a contained space away from your living environment, that can feel safe when talking about sensitive things. Working outdoors can support your wellbeing in a different way, with fresh air, movement, and the space and calm that come from being in nature and connecting with the other-than-human (trees, plants, animals, sea, sky).

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Skye, a qualified integrative counsellor and community grief tender.  I’ve worked in the charity sector throughout my career and in mental health and wellbeing for over ten years, managing service provision, offering one-to-one counselling and facilitating groups.

I work across four main areas:

Trauma: Including child abuse (sexual, physical, emotional), neglect, domestic abuse, sexual violence, relational and physical trauma. Trauma lives in our bodies and shapes our relationships to ourselves, others and the world. Rather than "fixing," I work to understand, be with, and integrate these experiences, building safety and steadiness in body-mind and in life. I'm completing an Advanced Certificate in Trauma Therapy and work part-time as a Trauma Stabilisation Worker in residential care for women who've experienced violence and trauma. Many of my clients have PTSD or Complex-PTSD.

Grief: This includes bereavement and loss, but also disconnection, loneliness, relationship breakdown, and collective suffering like climate collapse, natural disaster and war. Grief is often too big to hold alone and I'll be alongside you in your distress, rage and despair. I hold community grief tending spaces online for genderqueer/gender non-conforming people, and in person in Brighton for anyone who is grieving.

Neurodivergence (ADHD, ADD, Autism/ASD): Most of my clients are neurodivergent, navigating a world not designed for them. Together we explore your experience of neurodivergence, dismantle internalised beliefs that something is "wrong" with you, and build resources for self-support and self-advocacy.

LGBTQIA+ People: Queer people share common experiences alongside diverse identities. In the vulnerability of therapy, it matters that you don't have to explain or justify your queerness. I offer a space of implicit understanding, where you're accepted as you are, without the extra labour of educating me.

Practice description

My approach is to be alongside you with care, warmth and understanding, so that you don’t have to navigate things alone. I take a whole person, holistic approach that affirms and welcomes all of you - your identities, experiences, thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you in the moment. In practice, this means I work responsively, rather than following a one-size-fits-all model.

I mostly offer talking therapy but at times I might suggest a simple exercise, like writing or moving, that taps into different parts of your body-mind, so you become more aware of thoughts or feelings that may have been unconscious. I also support you to identify and stay with the sensations in your body, so that you can develop an increased bodily awareness, to understand and listen to what your body is communicating to you.

I work relationally, which means the relationship we build together is an important part of the therapy. Feeling safe, respected and understood is essential and I welcome clients sharing how it feels to work with me. I often check in about how our work together is going. This can help build trust and also gently highlight patterns that may show up in your other relationships.

I take an intersectional, anti-oppressive stance in my work that is affirming, compassionate and liberatory. I do not see distress as something that is "wrong" with you but as something that is shaped by the contexts and systems we live within. We can explore together how to face exclusion and injustice in a way that feels empowering for you, whilst celebrating the strengths and joys that your identity brings.

I provide short-term therapy (minimum 12 weeks), long-term and open-ended work.

I offer a sliding scale of £60 – £90 per session, with clients choosing a rate that feels affordable for them.

If you feel that we might work well together, you are welcome to get in touch.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute phone call before we begin, so you can ask any questions you may have about counselling and how I work, and so we can talk through practical details such as location, availability and fees.

If you decide to proceed, we will then have an initial 50-minute consultation session. This is a space to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it, and to get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. This session is charged at the agreed session rate.

If we choose to continue, sessions are 50 minutes, held weekly at the same time and day. Sessions are led by you and whatever feels most important to bring on that day.
