About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Sofia
I specialise in supporting adults who are struggling in their relationships, whether that’s with others, or with themselves. Many of the people I work with have always felt different, misunderstood, or emotionally on the outside of their own families. You may carry a quiet sense of shame, unworthiness or find it hard to trust. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone and you don’t have to keep holding it all together by yourself. These feelings often have deeper roots, shaped by earlier experiences of being unsupported, unseen, or hurt by those around us. I help you understand how these experiences continue to affect you, how they show up in your everyday life and relationships, and how they may be keeping you stuck. If you’ve been hurt in relationship, healing also happens through relationship.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in self-doubt. Sometimes we find ourselves coping by staying busy, overthinking, people-pleasing, or minimising what we’ve been through. Maybe others or you told yourself it wasn’t “bad enough” for therapy, but something still aches and you’re tired of carrying it alone. You don’t need to be in crisis to begin therapy. Many of my clients come to me when they’re ready to stop surviving and start healing, gently, honestly, and at their own pace.
You might simply feel ready to reconnect with yourself, to explore what’s been buried, and begin relating to yourself and others in new ways. Uncovering what’s been pushed aside, can help begin building more honest, nourishing relationships, starting with the one you have with yourself. If you’re open to working with curiosity and honesty, I’ll walk alongside you with warmth, and compassion. I offer a safe, respectful space where you can feel seen and accepted, and begin to make sense of your inner world. I work with adults online and in person, offering a space for lasting change, not just short-term relief.
Practice description
I’m a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed space where you can feel truly heard, understood, and accepted for who you are.
I believe many of the challenges we face, emotionally, physically, and in relationships, are rooted in early environments where our needs weren’t fully met. These patterns may have helped you survive, but now leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward.
My approach is collaborative and relational. We’ll explore how your past may be shaping your present and gently begin to untangle the ways you've had to adapt. I work at your pace, with deep respect for your readiness and emotional safety. Clients often tell me they feel accepted and supported in ways they’ve never experienced before.
Therapy with me is not about fixing you, it’s about reconnecting with yourself, with care and curiosity. I value authenticity and believe that healing happens through safe, attuned relationship. Our therapeutic connection can reflect and repair what was missed in earlier relationships.
As an integrative therapist, I draw from a range of models including attachment theory, somatic awareness, and relational approaches, tailored to your unique experience. I see you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms, and I’ll meet you with presence, compassion, and steadiness.
This is a space to bring what matters, even if you don’t yet have the words. Together, we can begin to make sense of your inner world.
Therapy with me is a space for curiosity, emotional depth, and honesty. It’s not quick-fix therapy, it’s deep, relational work for people who are ready to explore with intention and courage. This work isn’t always easy, but it can be life-changing. I’ll walk alongside you with steadiness, warmth, and a deep commitment to your process.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute phone call or online video introduction. This is a chance for you to ask any questions, share a little about what’s bringing you to therapy, and get a feel for how I work, with no pressure or commitment.
Following this, we begin with an initial assessment, this 50-minute session allows us to explore your concerns, therapy goals, and how I can best support you. It’s a chance for us to see if my approach aligns with your needs and to help you decide if therapy with me is the right fit.
Fees Both the initial assessment and ongoing sessions are 60 minutes and charged at £55.
Payment is required prior to each session and can be made via bank transfer
Working collaboratively, I guide the space with care and ethical responsibility, helping build the trust and emotional safety needed for meaningful change. The relationship we build together can offer insight into other relationships, while also being a space where healing itself can happen. You’re welcome to bring whatever feels important, however big or small. I’ll listen with compassion, and when helpful, may gently challenge what you bring, always respecting your readiness. This space is somewhere your needs and feelings can be expressed without fear, guilt, or shame, especially if that’s something you haven’t experienced before.
If you’re interested in working together or would like to ask anything before booking, you’re warmly invited to get in touch. Email: hello@sofiaeliastheapy.com
