About me and my therapy practice
I understand how overwhelming life can feel, whether you are struggling with the weight of the past, anxiety about the future, excessive worry, overthinking, or simply trying to get through each day. You may be facing a major life event or a more general sense of unease, emotional exhaustion, low self-esteem, or feeling stuck. Perhaps you're dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, work-related stress, burnout, or difficulties within relationships or family life. These struggles can leave us feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and alone. But change is possible, and you do not have to face it alone.
Bringing 20 Years of Compassionate Nursing into Counselling
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 20 years working as a nurse in the NHS, specialising in cancer care, hospice work and Accident & Emergency. These roles brought me into contact with people at some of the most vulnerable and emotionally raw moments of their lives, dealing with grief, trauma, uncertainty and loss.
This experience has profoundly shaped my approach as a therapist. It taught me how to sit with pain without trying to fix it, how to hold space for deep emotional distress, and how powerful it is to feel truly seen and heard. I bring this presence into the therapy room, offering a space that is calm, warm and non-judgemental.
I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress, low self-worth, trauma, grief and emotional overwhelm, among others. My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic techniques to tailor our work to your individual needs. I offer a balance of compassion and gentle challenge, supporting you to explore what may be holding you back and empowering you to create meaningful change.
Together, we will work at your pace to help you develop greater insight, confidence and self-compassion. You are at the heart of our work, and I will be alongside you every step of the way.
Practice description
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic methods to support you in a way that best suits your unique needs. Whatever brings you to therapy, I will work with you as a whole person, not a list of symptoms. My counselling style is warm and friendly, yet professional. I will gently challenge you when appropriate and regularly check in to ensure our work together is helpful and meaningful.
At the heart of my practice are empathy, respect and compassion. I aim to support you in finding your own answers, focusing on your lived experience so you can face life's challenges with greater confidence and move toward your potential.
Clients often come to me for support with issues such as anxiety, excessive worry, overthinking, panic attacks, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, fear of failure, stress, burnout, emotional or sexual abuse, past trauma and emotional exhaustion. Sometimes these concerns are part of more complex or long-standing patterns. At other times, clients simply feel stuck, overwhelmed or lost, life is not where they want it to be, and talking things through with a trained professional can help bring clarity and direction.
My training and experience with a wide range of clients allow me to adapt my approach using various therapeutic techniques, always with your goals in mind.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to a professional ethical framework. I also engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure the quality and integrity of my work.
I offer a flexible, person-centred service tailored to your pace and needs. In a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space, we can explore your thoughts and feelings together. Whatever you're facing, you do not have to face it alone.
My first session
Free Telephone Consultation
I offer a free telephone consultation, giving you the opportunity to learn more about how I work and to share what’s bringing you to counselling. You may be experiencing anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, struggling with panic attacks, stress or simply feeling that life has become difficult to manage.
I’ll explain my approach and what therapy might look like for you. This is also a chance for us both to see whether we feel like a good fit before committing to further sessions. There’s no obligation to continue. If we decide to move forward, we can arrange your first session and I’ll send over a working agreement.
Your First Session
In our first full session, I’ll explain more about how the therapy process works. We’ll talk about what has brought you to counselling so I can gain a fuller understanding of your needs and how best to support you.
The session will move at your pace and comfort level, with the aim of creating a calm, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported and able to speak openly.
Many people tell me they feel nervous before starting counselling or worry they won’t know what to say. There is no expectation to have everything figured out — we simply begin where you are.
