I specialise in working with people who may be dealing with a difficult event in their lives or struggling with ongoing mental health issues. Coping alone with feelings of anxiety, depression, low mood, feeling stuck can be lonely and debilitating, and I welcome you to bring all of you to a safe space where we can gently unpack and explore at your own pace.
I offer flexible hours and work on different days and evenings so I welcome you to get in touch and discuss your needs. I work online, in-person and sometimes blended approach allows for the flexibility that some people need.
Please contact me to arrange a short, no-obligation video consultation for us to meet and for you to ask any questions.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified therapist, offering support to adults of all ages. I will gently encourage you to to look at the difficulties that bring you to therapy, exploring experiences and relationships.
You may decide to seek support because of ongoing feelings such as shame, guilt, anxiety, overthinking, feeling stuck, but may not understand exactly why you are feeling this way. I welcome all of you in with an attuned and gentle presence to help you make connections, and to come into a deeper relationship with yourself.
How I work
Each session is shaped by what you bring; I help you to make connections between thoughts and feelings, often drawing attention to signals that your body is sending you. Through compassionate and mindful enquiry, I help you to understand patterns such as intrusive thoughts, avoidance, self-criticism.
Throughout, I keep you in mind: my aim is to give you a confidential, compassionate space to talk about your life and for you to gain clarity and insight, allowing you to feel more resourced and empowered to make change.
People I work with
As a second generation British Asian, I understand the complexities of living with multiple cultures. Acculturation and cultural belonging create an inner tension where it can be difficult to navigate your own choices.
I am committed to providing a culturally sensitive space for you to explore, accept and evolve at your own pace.
I specialise in working with adults of all ages including young adults and older adults.
I am experienced in working with adults facing issues such as job stress, relationships, loneliness, marriage and family pressures, racism, identity issues.
Older adults can face life transitions, health issues, relationships, loneliness, facing loss, feeling invisible.
Over time, a safe space where you are seen and met with genuine empathy and enquiry can help to bring clarity and a deeper connection with yourself.

My first session
The first session is a chance for us to meet and for me to get a better understanding of what you hope to get out of therapy. You will get a sense of whether this feels right and to ask any questions. We will agree whether a time-limited or open-ended format will suit your needs.
I also offer an introductory video call before the first session if you have any questions before the first session.
Working Together
Most people begin with weekly sessions. The number of sessions varies with each person's needs but I recommend starting with a block of 6 to assess your needs and then moving forward in a more open-ended format with regular reviews. This flexible way of working allows you to feel supported, while giving you control of the ending.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Jyoti, a qualified therapist working from various locations in London and online. I offer long-term and time-limited therapy.
Each session is shaped by what you bring. I help you to make connections between thoughts and feelings, helping you to understand your unique experience in the world. Through gentle exploration, we will work through the pressures you face, make sense of how you experience relationships, and for you to gain a better understanding of how to manage your day to day challenges.
Patterns such as intrusive thoughts of doubt, shame, guilt and self-criticism are coping mechanisms for difficulties; a deeper understanding of these patterns helps to reduce symptoms such as anxiety, depression and low mood, giving you new perspectives on your life and relationships.
Throughout, I keep you and your objectives in mind; my aim is to give you a confidential space to talk about your life, to gain clarity and insight allowing you to feel more resourced and empowered to make change.
People seek therapy for many reasons and at different life stages. I specialise in working with adults of all ages coping with anxiety, depression, relationships, loss, identity, trauma, racial issues (please see section below for full list).
I am particularly interested in working with young adults who can face specific issues such as working through friendship and relationship difficulties, coping with job searching, student life, family relationships, racism, identity issues.
Older adults often seek therapy as they cope with life changes such as retirement, health issues, loneliness, looking for purpose, feeling invisible, facing loss.
Whatever you are navigating, I endeavour to build a welcoming safe space where you can explore, accept and evolve at your own pace.
Practice description
I work with adults of all ages and can accommodate in-person or online sessions; occasionally, a blended model can suit work schedules and busy life-styles.
I trained at The Minster Centre in Integrative Counselling and as well as private practice, I have worked with several low cost services supporting students, NHS workers, and adults from many different backgrounds.
Growing up in Scotland, and being of South Asian heritage has supported my work in understanding the experiences of clients working with issues of identity and belonging. Class, ethnic background, inter-generational complexities of belonging shape us all uniquely.
As an integrative counsellor, I use different models of working including psychodynamic, humanistic, person-centred and body psychotherapy.
