About me and my therapy practice
I am a trauma-informed Humanistic therapist experienced in supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse people or anyone who wants to reach out for help. I offer a warm, relational and challenging person-centred approach, tailored to your needs in a space that's just for you, where I can give you the support and guidance to help create positive change in yourself and your life. My approach includes working somatically, meaning I include the mind-body connection and embodied experience. Therapy creates a ripple effect in all other areas of life; inward change creates external change and has a direct impact on our surrounding environment.
I believe that we all deserve to have a voice and agency over our lives, but many of us find ourselves feeling powerless, lost, discontent or in despair. Not only can our personal lives be challenging, the world we live in can make those challenges even harder to overcome. Having a consistent, weekly session just for yourself can create safety and structure.
I am experienced in providing support for LGBTQ+ issues, but anyone is welcome to reach out, whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or otherwise. I am Sex Worker Friendly and a sex positive therapist, I welcome discussion on sexuality or psychosexual issues without judgement or shame.
Practice description
I am qualified in a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Brighton University, which equates to a master's level of training. I am registered with the BACP and abide by their ethical framework.
I volunteered with MindOut as a counsellor for more than two years offering LGBTQ+ support to adults of all ages. My Private Practice supports this and I work in an LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse friendly therapy hub.
I am also a Sex Positive therapist, including supporting Sex Workers and conversations around psychosexual issues which might be hard to explore in other parts of life. I am also experienced in psychosexual issues that are unique to trans people, pre-and post-transition. I also work in a Trauma Informed way, and I am experienced in working with survivors of abuse, which can be another topic that is sadly not always spoken about. My room will always be a place where the person in front of me is invited to have a voice and will not be shamed or judged for their experience.
I have years of lived experience, clinical work, research and my own personal therapy. My approach is client-led, allowing you to take the direction of your therapy rather than me telling you what to do or just analysing you, whilst still offering gentle challenge, curiosity and insights. Therapy is not about giving you direct solutions, advice and answers – it is about helping you find the answers that are already within yourself, as only you know the truth about your life and only you have the wisdom and power to change it, but sometimes our experiences have buried or taken away this wisdom. Therapy will help you find it again.
Previously, I studied English Literature at degree level and gained an MA in Creative Writing. Expression and having a voice is important to me, and it is just as important that my clients can have expression and a voice in the room with me.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute phone or Teams consultation to see if we'd like to work together. The first session will involve a brief assessment where I can get a sense of where you're at and what you'd like to explore. The counselling is there to best fit your needs, whether you're looking for a few sessions or want something longer. Sessions will be on the same day and time on a weekly basis.
