About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced, BACP accredited, Psychotherapist and Founder of the Positive Therapy Clinic, based just outside of Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Coalville. My aim as a therapist has always been to create a safe, calming, non judgemental space for my clients. I do this in my counselling cabin, which gives my clients the peace and seclusion they need for their sessions. While we will always focus on what has brought you to therapy, we will also explore you as a whole; your past experiences, key relationships, values and beliefs, life stage and environmental factors that are cumulatively influencing your present.
Although I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, there are some areas of practice that particularly interest me and in which I continue to undertake additional professional development; Women’s mental health Body confidence & self-esteem Life transitions & identity Neurodiversity Anxiety & overwhelm Relationship difficulties
Whatever has led you here, please allow me to reassure you that you are in the right place and have taken the first step on your journey to a more positive future. I am trained in working with many mental health concerns and will work with you to tailor your therapeutic journey to you and your needs. It all starts with a 20 minute conversation.

My first session
All of my clients are individual and unique. That sounds cliché but it is true and something I hold closely when working with them. Rather than following one, prescriptive therapeutic approach, I work integratively, drawing on various therapeutic approaches and tools that work with my client. While we will always focus on what has brought you to therapy, we will also explore you as a whole; your past experiences, key relationships, values and beliefs, life stage and environmental factors that are cumulatively influencing your present.
If you are considering coming to counselling please contact me for an initial conversation of around 20 - 30 minutes. During this, you will be asked about what you feel your needs are and we will decide together whether I am the best fit for you. If you choose to work with me, I will send you all the relevant information and arrange a convenient date and time for your first session.
I see my clients from a purpose built counselling cabin which I was fortunate enough to be able to convert from a humble 'shed' into a beautiful, tranquil counselling space. Surrounded by nature, my counselling cabin gives my clients the peace and seclusion they need for their sessions. During warmer months the doors can be open if the client wishes to let in a pleasant breeze and the sounds of nearby animals. In Winter, the cabin is a warm little room of comfort with squirrels running past. It is honestly one of my favourite places to be and I hope that my clients like it as well.
The first session involves a warm cup of tea or coffee and we discuss confidentiality and safeguarding along with a more indepth conversation about what has led you to therapy. The important part is about building a relationship between you and me. You may ultimately share content you haven't spoken to anyone else about before, and so we need to make sure that you trust me and feel comfortable with me holding that space for you.
