About me and my therapy practice
We often end up searching for a therapist when we have had enough of carrying our problems around by ourselves.
It can be nerve wracking taking the first step to talking therapy, but I wholeheartedly believe it to be a worthwhile process. It is truly fascinating, and often liberating, to build our self awareness and understand our patterns of relating to others. It can help to answer some of those puzzling questions we have about ourselves and our lives. It can also help to alleviate painful feelings and anxieties.
I’m a fully qualified counsellor and I provide a confidential, warm space for you to talk freely and openly about whatever your concerns are. I offer both long and short term therapy and I work integratively; which means I draw on various theories to tailor my approach to best suit you, as I believe we are all individuals, with unique needs
Practice description
I am fully qualified with a CPCAB level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I believe the most important part of therapy is building a relationship; you need to feel like I am someone you can connect with. My person-centred approach means we will build a therapeutic relationship, so we are able to work together to help you look at any issues you wish to face. I also draw on psychodynamic theory, which looks back at past experiences to see how they may be influencing your current feelings or behaviours.
I really value continued learning and regularly enrol on short courses to learn more such as ‘Understanding Narcississm’, ‘Sex & Shame’ and ‘Transactional Analysis 101’.
I have experience working with adults, young to old, from various backgrounds, cultures and walks of life. I have worked at Carers Support Bexley, assisting carers in need of counselling; and I currently work at a low cost counselling charity with a wide range of clients with various needs.
My first session
Please feel free to contact me to discuss making an appointment. You can call me, send an email or text. Initially, we can have a no obligation brief phone call to discuss your needs and what I can offer. During which we can arrange your first session.
The first session is your chance to see if I am someone you would like to work with. This will be a mix of agreeing how we will work together and learning what you can expect from our sessions. It’s also a chance for me to get an overview of what your current concerns are and what you hope to achieve through counselling.
