About me and my therapy practice
Growing up and finding your place in the world isn’t always easy. Friendships, school, family relationships and questions about who you are can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, struggling with confidence, finding relationships difficult or feeling different from those around you. Sometimes, you might not know exactly what’s wrong; you just know things don’t feel quite right.
If you’re a parent, you may have noticed your child becoming anxious, withdrawn or frustrated, and want to help them feel understood.
Hi, I’m Deb, a qualified counsellor offering face-to-face counselling in Chelmsford, Essex, and online sessions for children, teenagers and young adults.
I offer a warm, inclusive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without pressure to have all the answers. I can support you with anxiety, friendships, school pressures, low self-esteem, family relationships and questions around identity. My counselling is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I recognise that neurodivergent young people may face additional challenges navigating everyday expectations and relationships.
Every young person is different. I aim to understand you as an individual, recognising your unique experiences, strengths and needs.
Counselling doesn’t have to be just about talking. Depending on your age and preferences, we can explore creative ways to express feelings when finding the right words is difficult. There’s no pressure to talk about everything straight away; we’ll find an approach that feels comfortable for you.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, but you don’t need to know exactly what to say. I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call to answer your questions and explore whether working together feels right for you or your child.
Sometimes, having a space where you can be yourself and feel truly heard is a good place to start.
Practice description
I’m Deb, a qualified counsellor supporting children, teenagers and young adults to make sense of what they’re feeling, navigate life’s challenges and feel more comfortable being themselves. Based in Chelmsford, I offer a warm, LGBTQIA+ affirming and individual approach to counselling, creating a space where young people can feel understood, explore what matters to them and be accepted for who they are.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute phone call before an initial session is booked.
For sessions with a young person, I invite their parent or carer to join us for the first half of our initial session. This gives us time to go through the counselling agreement, explain how I work and answer any questions. Afterwards, I’ll invite the parent or carer to step out so I can spend some time getting to know the young person and talking with them about what they hope to get from our time together.
