About me and my therapy practice
My Approach
Psychodynamic therapy uses self-reflection and self-examination along with a focus on the relationships between therapist and client as a way of exploring our way of being in relationships, our patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings.
It is not a symptom focused therapy instead it focuses on how our past shapes our present and potentially, our future. Exploring these echoes of the past, allows insights to emerge, helping you to understand why you feel and behave in a certain way and how this might impact your relationships.
The goal of psychodynamic therapy is to develop a deeper understanding, getting to the root of the issue and providing the opportunity to create long-lasting change. It is a about moving from the learned coping mechanisms which have allowed you to survive towards healthier choices which will allow you to thrive.
How It Works
The psychodynamic process allows you to talk freely about whatever comes to mind, letting things emerge at your pace and then exploring what they mean together.
Is is a subtle, deep and valuable process of exploring, developing awareness and coming to know your inner world. Some clients will come for a few weeks, others months, an some years.
