About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and my role, as a counsellor, is to walk alongside you, seeing your world as you see it, creating a space where you feel accepted, valued and understood with care and compassion. As an integrative counsellor, I adapt my approach to meet your unique needs, and when words are hard to find, I have creative tools which can help express what’s inside.
Why choose me? Life has thrown many challenges my way which has given me a deep sense of humility and appreciation for how tough life is and what we, as humans, do to survive. Survival can come at a price though: loss of identity, unhealthy coping mechanisms, always looking after others at the expense of yourself are just a few examples. Sometimes, we don’t even realise we’re in survival mode until something makes us stop.
Counselling gives you the space to gain a clearer perspective of you and your world. Gaining a deeper understanding of yourself can empower you to make the necessary changes needed to enrich your life.
Alongside my private practice I volunteer for two charities; one that supports clients who have issues with alcohol misuse. The work is centered around relapse prevention as clients navigate their lives and understand themselves and their past behaviours and having compassion for themselves whilst developing new coping mechanisms.
My other charity supports clients whose lives have been impacted by sexual abuse. Sometimes the abuse has been historical and for other clients it can be coming to terms with the sexual abuse which has happened within their family. My role is to support clients as they process and come to terms with a myriad of intense emotions as they try to make sense and find a way forward in the new world they find themselves in. Thank you and take care.
