About me and my therapy practice

Welcome and thank you for visiting my profile. It is common for past experiences and present circumstances to pose challenges in our life. You have made a significant step in seeking out support and I hope you can give yourself appreciation for this.

My aim is to create a judgement-free, safe-feeling space, in which you can explore your history and the present issues you face; where you will be supported to foster deeper self-connection, and gain practical tools that will equip you to continue your growth once therapy ends.

Primary issues that I can support:

1. Mental health challenges

2. Rebuilding from trauma

3. Navigating relationship challenges, including queer and open relationships.

4. Processing guilt/shame

5. Exploring identity, belonging and self-esteem (around disability, gender, race and sexuality)

Clients who have worked with me have reported an improved relationship with themselves, more sense of control in their daily lives and renewed positivity.

Practice description

I am trained in Person Centred Counselling (PGDip), meaning I work with empathy, encourgement of authenticity, and a belief in your inherent ability to find solutions to the issues you face. I respond to clients flexibly, moving between reflective and more solution-focussed approaches, responding to what feels most supportive to a client at any given time.

As part of my holistic approach, I work with particular care in supporting clients to navigate parts of their identity, such as sexuality, race or neurodivergence. I recognise how the intersections of different aspects of identity can influence unique experiences, some of which might be a source of internal conflict for which you would like support, or for which you simply would like reassurance in knowing those experiences will be held with care.

Essentially, there cannot be a blanket approach to counselling. Each client I work with has their own preference for ways of working and individual sense of what feels therapeutic. I will work collaboratively with you to find an approach that is best fitting for you.

Alongside my private practice I continue to volunteer as a counsellor for an LGBT+ charity, working with issues such as challenges in relationships, coming out and managing feelings of guilt and shame. I have previous experiences of volunteering as a counsellor within schools and for youth charities, supporting young clients to build self-confidence and cope with grief and domestic abuse.

I have kept information here brief and am conscious you may wish to know more about my training and experience. If so, I would be happy to share more in a free intro call.

My first session

I offer a free 30-minute intro call, in which you can share more about what you might like to explore in therapy, learn more about my practice and ask questions. This can help you to make a decision about whether counseling from me could be the right route for you.

There is no pressure to book further sessions following your intro call. Regardless of whether you are certain of wanting to start counselling or still deciding, I would be hapy to hear from you and support you in this first step of your journey.

About me and my therapy practice

I support clients by providing a space where they can explore the challenges they face without judgement. Through active listening and sensitive questioning, I help clients understand their issues more deeply. I provide perspective to help find possible solutions to problems or to move towards a sense of self that feels authentic and meaningful. I also recognise that issues cannot always be resolved, and in such cases I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor can be healing.

Practice description

I encourage clients to trust their own wisdom and to build their self-awareness. The content of my sessions is often informed by what the client feels is most important to focus on.
