About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counselling and psychotherapist, my approach is rooted in the belief that every individual is unique and have their own experiences, emotional needs, personal history and understanding of the world. My practice integrates person Centred Therapy, Attachment based Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). By combining these approaches, I am able to create a safe confidential and non judgmental therapeutic alliance where my clients feel heard, understood, respected and empowered to explore their difficulties. My work is grounded in the principles of Person Centred Therapy. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, self understanding and Positive change when provided with the right therapeutic environment. I, therefore, work collaboratively with clients, respecting their autonomy experiences and ability to make meaningful choices about their lives. I recognise that our early relationships and life experiences can influence how we form relationships, manage emotions, develop and exp OKerience ourselves and others. I help my clients explore how their past and present relationships may influence their emotional well being, relationship patterns, enforce boundaries and sense of security. I also incorporate Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, physical responses and behaviours. I support clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge limiting beliefs and develop practical coping strategies. This may include anxiety, low mood, stress, low self esteem, trauma , alcohol and drug abuse, e.t.c. By integrating these three therapeutic approaches, I seek to understand the person beyond their presenting difficulties. I believe that therapy is not about fixing people it is about creating the space, understanding and support that enables people to reconnect with themselves recognise their strengths and discover new possibilities for their lives.
Practice description
What you can expect from me
Choosing to begin counselling is a personal and sometimes difficult decision. The fact that you are reading this is a positive step on your part. Whatever brings you to therapy, I want you to know that you do not have to navigate everything alone. As an integrative counselling psychotherapist, I offer a compassionate confidential and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself.
What working with me looks like
1. A safe space to be yourself.
You will have the opportunity to speak about your thoughts feelings and experiences without fear of judgement. You do not need to have all the answers or even know where to begin. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
2. I believe you are the expert in your own life.
I will not tell you how to live your life or make decisions for you. I will instead offer empathy, understanding and professional guidance to help you discover your own strengths, choices and possibilities.
3. Understanding your story.
Together we may explore how your childhood, relationships, life experiences and significant events have influenced the person that you are today. We will consider patterns that may be affecting your emotional well-being, relationships and sense of self.
4. Practical support and strategies.
Where appropriate we will introduce CBT techniques and practical tools to help you understand and manage unhelpful thinking patterns emotional responses and behaviours.
There is no one size fits all approach to counselling. Therapy is a journey, not a quick fix. My aim is to support you in developing greater self awareness, understand your emotional needs and strengthen your relationships and establish healthy boundaries and choices that align with the life you want to live.
