About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults using a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approach, informed by trauma-aware and relational thinking , this means addressing current difficulties, paying attention to past experiences, unconscious patterns, and the ways relationships including the therapeutic relationship shape how we feel, think, and relate to others.

I offer a reflective, containing, and non-judgemental space where you can explore experiences at your own pace. I am particularly experienced in working with issues such as self-harm, emotional distress, trauma, identity, relationships, loss, migration, and cross-cultural experiences. I also work with feelings of anxiety, low mood, shame, and difficulties around belonging and self-worth.

Sessions are usually open-ended and collaborative, shaped by what you bring. I aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of your internal world, emotional responses, and relational patterns. Over time, this can support greater emotional resilience, clarity, and the possibility of meaningful change.

My way of working is grounded in cultural sensitivity, curiosity, and respect for difference. I am attentive to how social, cultural, and systemic factors including race, gender, class, and migration may influence lived experience and mental health. I place strong value on the therapeutic relationship as a key part of the work, offering reliability, consistency, and thoughtful engagement.

I work with adults online and in person, depending on availability. Sessions are offered in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

Practice description

I offer a confidential and reflective space where you can speak openly and feel listened to with care and respect. My work is informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking, which means we explore both current difficulties and the emotional patterns and relationships that shape how you experience yourself and others. I value the therapeutic relationship and see it as central to meaningful change.
I work in a trauma-informed way and am sensitive to the impact of experiences such as loss, identity questions, migration, relationship difficulties and emotional distress. My purpose is to support you making sense of your inner world, helping you develop greater emotional understanding and more compassionate ways of relating to yourself.
I have experience working with issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, cultural and identity-related concerns, and periods of transition or crisis. I aim to offer an inclusive, culturally sensitive and non-judgemental space, mindful of difference, power and context.
Sessions are usually held weekly and may be short- or longer-term, depending on your needs. I work within BACP ethical guidelines and engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development. An initial consultation is offered to explore what has brought you to therapy and to clarify your therapeutic goals.

My first session

The first session offers a calm and structured space to begin exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you may be hoping to address. We will focus on your current concerns and relevant background, at a pace that feels manageable.

I will explain how I work and outline the practical framework of therapy, including confidentiality, session frequency, boundaries, cancellations and fees. A client contract agreement is provided, setting out these terms clearly and transparently, with time for you to read it and ask any questions before deciding whether to continue.

By the end of the session, we will reflect on whether ongoing therapy feels appropriate and consider a possible focus for the work. The first session forms part of the therapeutic process and may raise thoughts or feelings that can be explored further in subsequent sessions.
