Availability
I currently have availability for new referrals for children and young people at the Treehouse Wellbeing Centre in Lutterworth.
Appointments are available on Fridays, during school hour and after school. A letter can be available for schools regarding session attendance.
The therapy centre provides a private, welcoming environment specifically suited to working therapeutically with children and young people.
I offer a free initial telephone conversation with parents/carers so that we can discuss your concerns, what you are hoping therapy might help with and whether my approach would be suitable for your child.
If you would like to discuss availability or have any questions before making an appointment, please get in touch via the contact details on this profile.
About me and my therapy practice
Is your child or teenager struggling with something they can't quite put into words?
Perhaps you've noticed changes in your child's behaviour or emotions. They may be anxious, withdrawn, angry, lacking confidence, struggling with school or friendships, or finding it difficult to cope with something that has happened in their life.
At the therapy centre, I provide a warm, welcoming and child-friendly space where children and young people can feel safe, understood and able to be themselves.
I use play therapy and creative arts counselling, alongside talking and other therapeutic approaches. Children don't always have the words to explain what they are feeling, and creative activities can give them another way to communicate and make sense of their experiences.
The therapy centre provides a range of resources that children can use during sessions, including art materials, clay, sand, puppets, stories, games, role play and other creative activities. The child can explore these at their own pace, without pressure to talk about difficult things before they are ready.
I adapt my approach to each individual child, taking account of their age, personality, interests and needs. Some children may engage through talking, while others may communicate more naturally through play, art or creative activities.
I have experience working therapeutically with children and young people in both the UK and Mozambique, including children from different cultural and personal backgrounds and those who have experienced difficult or adverse childhood experiences.
My aim is to provide a trusting therapeutic relationship where your child can feel heard and accepted, develop a greater understanding of their feelings and experiences, build confidence and find ways of managing the challenges they are facing.
I also speak Portuguese and can discuss whether this may be helpful for your child or family.
Practice description
I offer child and young person-centred therapy from a dedicated therapy centre in Lutterworth, providing a warm, welcoming and private space where children can feel comfortable being themselves.
The environment is particularly suited to creative and play-based therapy. Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling or experiencing, so therapy can include play, creative activities and other forms of expression alongside talking.
I adapt sessions to each child’s age, personality, interests and individual needs. Some children may prefer to talk, while others may communicate more naturally through play, drawing, art, stories, role play or other creative activities. There is no pressure to talk about difficult experiences before they are ready.
I work with children and young people experiencing a range of emotional and personal difficulties, including anxiety, low confidence, changes in behaviour, difficulties at school or with friendships, family changes, bereavement, difficult experiences and other challenges that may be affecting their wellbeing.
My aim is to provide a safe therapeutic relationship where children can feel listened to and understood, explore their feelings at their own pace, develop confidence and begin to find ways of managing what they are experiencing.
I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people in both the UK and Mozambique and with children from a range of backgrounds. I also speak Portuguese.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for your child to become familiar with the therapy centre and begin to feel comfortable with me and the therapeutic space.
I will not expect your child to immediately talk about difficult or personal experiences. The first session is about building trust and getting to know your child at their own pace. Depending on their age and individual needs, this may involve talking, playing, drawing or using creative activities.
Before therapy begins, I will usually speak with the parent or carer to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping will change for your child. We can discuss your concerns, your child's experiences and any relevant background information.
During the first session, I will focus on creating a safe and accepting environment where your child can begin to explore the space and develop a sense of trust. We can then agree how the sessions will work and what feels appropriate for your child.
Every child is different, so I adapt the way I work rather than expecting them to fit a particular approach.

About me and my therapy practice
Is your child or teenager struggling with something they can't quite put into words?
Perhaps you've noticed that your child has become more anxious, withdrawn, angry or overwhelmed. They may be struggling with school, friendships, family changes, confidence or something difficult they have experienced. As a parent or carer, it can be difficult to know what is happening beneath the surface or how best to help.
I offer a safe, warm and creative space where children and young people can explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace.
I work therapeutically with children and young people using play therapy and creative arts counselling, alongside talking and other therapeutic approaches. Children do not always communicate what they are feeling through words, so I use creative resources such as art, clay, sand, puppets, stories, role play, games and music to give them different ways to express themselves.
My work is child-centred and adapted to the individual. Some children may want to talk; others may communicate more naturally through play or creative activities. There is no pressure to talk about difficult experiences before they feel ready.
I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people in both the UK and Mozambique, supporting individuals from a range of backgrounds and with different life experiences, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
My aim is to provide a trusting therapeutic relationship in which a child or young person can feel heard, understood and accepted, while developing greater awareness of their feelings, confidence in themselves and ways of managing the challenges they are facing.
I also speak Portuguese, and can discuss whether this may be helpful for your child or family.
Practice description
My practice is centred around the belief that children and young people need to feel safe, accepted and understood before they can begin to explore difficult feelings and experiences.
I offer a creative, child-centred approach that allows each young person to engage with therapy in a way that feels natural to them. I draw on play therapy, creative arts counselling, person-centred, integrative, Gestalt and phenomenological approaches, adapting my way of working according to the individual rather than expecting every child to respond in the same way.
My therapy spaces provide a range of creative and play-based resources, including art and craft materials, clay, sand trays, puppets, books, games, role-play resources and musical instruments. These can give children and young people a way of communicating and exploring experiences that may feel difficult to express verbally.
I have worked therapeutically with children and young people in both Mozambique and the UK and have experience supporting children from different cultural and personal backgrounds.
My practice is based in Trowell with school or home visits available where appropriate.
I aim to work collaboratively with parents and carers while keeping the child's or young person's therapeutic needs at the centre of the work.
My first session
Taking the first step towards therapy for your child can feel daunting, particularly if you're unsure whether therapy is right for them.
I offer a free initial telephone conversation with parents/carers. This is an opportunity to tell me what you've noticed, talk through your concerns and ask any questions about play therapy and creative arts counselling. We can then consider together whether my approach may be appropriate for your child or young person.
If we decide to proceed, I offer a parent/carer consultation and assessment before beginning the therapeutic work.
The first session with your child is primarily about getting to know one another and helping them feel comfortable. They can explore the therapy space and the creative resources available, which may include art materials, clay, sand, puppets, books, games and other play resources.
There is no expectation that a child will immediately talk about difficult experiences. Building a trusting relationship is an important part of therapy, and I allow the young person to become familiar with me, the space and the way sessions work at their own pace.
The resources and activities are adapted according to the child's age, interests, personality and needs. The aim is to create a space where they can begin to communicate and explore what is happening for them in a way that feels manageable.
