About me and my therapy practice
When we are lost and unable to see the way forward, sometimes the wisest course of action is to stop.
When I’m in the room I realise that beneath everything, most people simply want to have a relationship with someone where they don’t have to be something other, in order to be accepted, where the mask can come off without feeling the crippling shame of judgement. There is a vulnerable space of connection and intimacy that sits in the silence between the questions. it transcends my understanding and allows for something magical to happen between and around us, and it is in that part of the relationship where healing happens, not in the understanding or psycopatholougising of what went wrong, but in the connection that conveys the message. You are of value and there is meaning in your pain.
Resistance is as important as acceptance. Resistance tells us something essential about how you have experienced the world around you, and what you have needed to do in order to survive it. Our wounding forms protective structures around us, and these parts deserve compassion rather than judgement. Through acknowledgement of pain, and through compassionate enquiry into the parts of ourselves formed to protect us from it, fertile ground for change can emerge. By standing still, we can move forward.
As we work together, we may begin to heal the part of ourselves so often damaged through trauma: our intuition, our felt sense of self, the inner knowing that tells us whether an environment is safe or unsafe. Paradoxically, change does not come through force or encouragement to become different, but through a deep acceptance of where we are now.
I also offer couples therapy, supporting partners to better understand patterns in their relationship, improve communication, and navigate challenges together.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call if you would like to meet and see whether working together feels right for you.
