About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor based in The Surrey Hills.
Struggling to accept certain parts of yourself? Unsure whether you have the confidence to ask for what you truly want and need in your relationships? Feeling like you’ll never be “enough,” or that you have to fit in and conform just to belong? Maybe you’re caught in a cycle of self-doubt and those familiar, persistent negative voices.
I won’t tell you what to do, and I can’t change your past or the circumstances you’ve faced. But I can help you meet your present-day challenges with greater calm, confidence, and clarity—and support you in reshaping the way the past shows up in your life today.
Together, we can make sense of what’s been happening inside and gently uncover what may be keeping you stuck. We’ll explore your thoughts, your self-doubt, those critical inner voices, and the patterns in your relationships so you can understand what’s holding you back. From there, you can begin moving toward your full potential and a life that feels more authentic, grounded, and fulfilling.
My name is Andrew Ward a BACP-registered integrative therapist based in Brighton. I am committed to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for my clients.
My integrative training allows me to tailor my approach to fit the unique needs of each of my clients, and I work with an international adult client base.
My work and approach draw on many years of varied life experience. I have Director roles in both the property and media sectors before embarking on this therapy 'chapter' where I have worked in the charity and education sectors.
I am trauma-informed and work with:
• Stress (inc. all aspects of minority stress)
• Anger
• Self-Acceptance / Low self-esteem
• Sexuality issues
• LGBTQ issues (inc. Transitioning issues)
• Relationship and Intimacy Issues
• Anxiety
• Work related issues
• Shame
• Bullying
• Relationship issues
• Porn Addiction
• Sex addiction
• Love addiction
• Depression
Practice description
I use an integrative approach which incorporates elements of person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, transactional analysis, emotion-focused, and compassion-focused therapy. I integrate different approaches to best serve the needs of my individual clients in a 'seemless' way to ensure they achieve the maximum benefit and help from our sessions.
I am motivated by a desire to help each of my clients to become 'fully functioning' whilst starting to live their true 'authentic lives'. It is always a privilege to help my clients break 'free' from the issues that have been holding them back from leading 'happy and fulfilling' lives and a pleasure to accompany them on their journey to realising their true potential.
I firmly believe it is the power of the 'relationship' that's formed between us that will become the most important component in our work. My preference is to work in a fluid 'open-ended' manner. I leave it to my clients to decide how many sessions they want.
My first session
I offer a free confidential 30 min phone call or WhatsApp video call to give you a clearer idea of how I work and for us both to gauge if we feel we are a good 'fit' and see if we wish to work together. If we decide to proceed I will send across a contract for you to look over. I will then answer any questions you have via e-mail before our first session. In the first session I will talk through the key elements of our contract and conduct a client assessment to enable me to assess risk and formulate a plan for our time together.
