About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Kelly, I am a qualified and BACP registered therapeutic Counsellor and work with the person-centred model of therapy. I now work in my own practice, bringing with me valuable experience from my time at a mental health charity.

As a therapist I work with clients who are seeking support for all kinds of reasons, including anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem. I provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insights into your behaviour, and empower you to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

I have over 20 years experience of working with people who struggled with their mental health. Previous to studying to become a counsellor I worked for the Prison Service, where I specialised in supporting both prisoners and staff with their mental health and wellbeing. Within this role I also worked as a Family Liaison Officer, where I would work closely with prisoners who were at end of life, and provided compassionate support to grieving families.

I am caring, empathic and compassionate and committed to providing a warm, confidential and honest counselling relationship, supporting you to explore challenges or difficulties you may be facing.

Practice description

The counselling sessions I offer are from my garden therapy room, which offers a private, tranquil and relaxing space, helping you to feel a sense of relaxation and wellbeing whilst in our sessions together.

I understand that flexibility is important, so I also offer telephone and online counselling sessions when these are more convenient

Starting therapy is a personal journey and it is so important that you feel safe and heard. I offer a free initial telephone consultation so that we can get to know each other a little before you start your counselling journey. This consultation is non-committal and enables you to decide whether you feel I'm the right therapist for you.

My first session

Our initial session together will be welcoming and relaxed, it is a gentle space for you to talk about your own situation and what has brought you to seek counselling. You may share any specific aims or goals of what you are hoping to gain from your counselling sessions, but it's fine if you don't have any at this point.

You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, as we will always work at your pace during our sessions.

Our initial session will enable me to share some information about how I work and what you can expect from our sessions. During this time, we will talk through our working agreement, This is also a great opportunity for you to ask me any questions.
