About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Amelia — a qualified Gestalt therapist offering high-quality, personalised therapy for adults and working professionals. My training began with a core foundational year at the Gestalt Centre, followed by diploma-level qualification, where I developed a grounded, embodied understanding of Gestalt practice. I then continued my work within the NHS, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of emotional and psychological needs. This experience has given me a deep, nuanced understanding of the challenges people face and the support they truly need.
In my private practice, I offer both short- and long-term therapy in a calm, confidential space where you can slow down, reflect, and understand yourself more fully. Many clients come to me seeking support with anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work pressures, breakups, or bereavement. Others arrive feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their direction in life.
Whatever brings you here, my approach is collaborative, steady, and attuned. I tailor each session to your individual experience, drawing on the principles of Gestalt therapy to help you become more present, connected, and empowered in your life. My aim is to offer a therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely seen and supported, a space where meaningful, lasting change can take shape.
Practice description
Gestalt therapy is a holistic, experiential approach that focuses on what you’re feeling and experiencing right now. Instead of digging endlessly into the past, we pay attention to the present moment, your emotions, your body, your thoughts, and the patterns that shape your everyday life.
In our work together, you can expect:
• Greater self-awareness — understanding what you feel and why it matters
• A focus on the here and now — exploring what’s happening for you in the moment
• A sense of personal agency — supporting you to make choices that feel true to you
• Integration — bringing your emotional, physical, and mental experiences together
• A strong therapeutic relationship — a safe, grounded space where you can be fully yourself
Alongside talking therapy, I offer creative and experiential ways of working. This may include art materials, music, sound work, or meaningful personal objects if you choose to bring them. These tools can deepen insight and help you access emotions or experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
My aim is to create a supportive, attuned environment where you can understand yourself more clearly, explore what’s no longer serving you, and move towards change that feels authentic and sustainable.
My first session
I offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation, giving us a chance to meet and get a sense of whether working together feels right. Before this, I invite clients to complete a brief intake form, which helps me understand your background, your needs, and what has brought you to therapy.
During the consultation, we will talk through what you’re hoping for, any concerns or questions you may have, and how I work as a Gestalt therapist. For many people, this may be the first time speaking with someone completely independent, and my intention is to create a space where you feel safe, comfortable, and understood.
If we choose to continue, we will arrange a regular weekly session a consistent time set aside for your own reflection, growth, and wellbeing. Our early sessions will focus on understanding your experiences and what you would like to explore. From there, we will develop a way of working together that feels supportive and attuned to your needs.
Therapy is a collaborative process. Over time, we aim to build a trusting relationship where you can deepen your awareness, explore what’s challenging you, and develop new possibilities for moving through your life with clarity and confidence.
