About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Alison, and I provide in-person and online counselling and psychotherapy for individuals.

In therapy, I offer you a confidential, supportive space where we can explore and understand the issues in your life and start to work towards the change you want.

I am a master's degree qualified and BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. My core training and foundational values are humanistic and person-centred and I work in an integrative style, recognising the uniqueness of every individual.

I work with people experiencing a range of challenges, including stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship issues, trauma, sexual violence and abuse (including historic childhood trauma) and grief and loss. Sometimes the issue seems unclear and people struggle with not feeling good about themselves, having problems with the different relationships in their lives and just finding life hard.

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy offers you the space and support to explore, understand and make changes for your life.

Therapy provides the professional, supportive space for you to talk about whatever matters to you. Engaging in this process can help you to:

 Understand yourself better, including exploring patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviour which might be holding you back

 Develop healthy skills and coping strategies for the challenges you face

 Build confidence and gain clarity about what you want from your life.

Finding the right therapist for you is important and so a good first step is for us to talk. I warmly invite you to contact me for a free introductory call to ask any questions you might have and to see how we might work together.

Practice description

As a way to start, I offer a free introductory call to get a feel for how we might work together and for any questions you might have. This is a very open conversation with no expectations or obligations.

The next step is to agree to meet in person or online for a first session. Here we would talk about what you want from therapy and discuss our future working arrangements.

If we do decide to work together, we would usually meet weekly in person or online, although this is flexible to suit your needs and schedule. We can work together for a fixed period or on an open-ended basis.

My first session

Our first session will be an opportunity for me begin to understand more about you and for us to get to know each other.

If you're interested in working with me and have more questions about what a first full session might be like, please do get in touch for our free discovery call.
