About me and my therapy practice
Welcome!
My name is Anna. I am a Psychotherapeutic counsellor based in the North East of England.
Challenges in life are inescapable. Holding onto hope can be risky. When we are suffering, hard questions and feelings surface.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you; it’s more about untangling threads, finding insight, building resilience, and learning new ways of coping so that when you are triggered or fail, you have choices. Therapy offers a unique opportunity for conversations to happen that rarely occur, even with our closest people.
I came to therapy because I was going through grief and a hard life transition. I trained as a therapist so that I had the skills and knowledge to be with people in their challenges. I have lived overseas and appreciate how culture and our family of origin influence our beliefs about mental health. I am fascinated by the stories we are told and tell ourselves and how that impacts the way we show up in the world.
I believe that a trusting relationship between therapist and client is fundamental for personal growth. Finding a good fit is important.
What is it like working with me? I am curious, warm and accepting. I am integrative in the way I work, so I use a variety of theories and modalities that fit you and your situation. I work collaboratively with you. I will check in regularly to find out what is working and what direction you want to take. I can offer creative ways of engaging with therapy if that interests you.
If you experience panic or anxiety, I can share strategies that may help you navigate through these times with action rather than fear. Anxiety doesn’t need to be in the driver's seat.
Practice description
I have a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling and am committed to furthering my training and professional development.
I am a registered member of the BACP and ACC to assure you I work to high ethical and professional standards.
I work online and in person from Jesmond Ne2. The premises are a short walk from Jesmond Metro, and there is 2-hour on-street parking nearby.
My first session
During the first session, I will listen to what has brought you to therapy and gather more information about your history and experiences. I will also show you our therapeutic policies and agreements, and you can ask any questions you may have.
We will make a plan going forward; however, typically, sessions are 50 minutes and weekly.
I offer short-term ( 6-8 sessions) and long-term therapy. Therapy can happen face-to-face or online.
If you would like to work with me, please reach out via email.
