About me and my therapy practice

About Me

Originally from Scotland, I have lived in several countries before settling in London.

My own experience of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy has been a huge influence on my decision to become a psychotherapist and continues to inform my understanding of the therapeutic process.

I regularly attend conferences, seminars, and training events to deepen my understanding of contemporary issues within psychotherapy, including gender, sexuality, race, class, and disability. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

My work is supervised in accordance with UKCP and BACP accreditation standards.

Training and Experience

I undertook a Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths University of London. My clinical experience includes working with NHS Talking Therapies through The Awareness Centre in Wandsworth and The Good Mental Health Company in Elephant and Castle. Before this, I completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Psychology and a certificate with Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA). I am currently undertaking further on-going training with The Guild of Psychotherapists in psychoanalytic work. I am an honorary psychotherapist at the reduced-fee clinic of The Guild of Psychotherapists.

I am an individual member with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and subscribe to the BACP Ethical Framework.

Practice description

Psychodynamic therapy helps you think about what may be operating outside of your conscious awareness and how this influences your feelings, thoughts, relationships, and ways of relating to the world.

Together, we will explore patterns, conflicts, and emotional experiences that may feel difficult to understand or put into words. Through this process, new meanings can emerge, creating the possibility for change.

My first session

What can i expect in the initial consultation?

The consultation is an opportunity for us to think about whether we are well-suited to work together. I will invite you to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. I will likely ask clarifying questions to begin to understand your experience. I will explain how I work and what therapy together could look like and you can ask any questions you may have.

There is no fee for this initial meeting and no obligation to continue.

What can i expect in a standard session?

Each week you will be invited to speak about whatever feels most important to you. This might involve current difficulties, relationships, recurring patterns, memories, dreams, thoughts, or feelings that have stayed with you. I will listen closely and offer observations and questions that may help deepen our exploration. Over time, we may begin to notice patterns and meanings that were previously outside awareness. As these become more understandable, new possibilities can emerge in how you experience yourself, your relationships, and your life.

As our work develops, aspects of these patterns may also appear within the therapeutic relationship itself. This can provide a valuable opportunity to explore them together in a thoughtful and contained way.
