About me and my therapy practice
People make sense.
I believe every thought, feeling and behaviour has a story to tell. Even the parts of ourselves that feel confusing or overwhelming often began as ways of coping, adapting or surviving. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I believe therapy begins with a different question: "What happened, and how does this make sense?"
Hello, I'm Ami, a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Little Bealings, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering both face-to-face and online therapy.
I believe lasting change begins when we feel safe enough to be ourselves. My role isn't to offer quick fixes, but to help you understand your experiences with greater curiosity and compassion. Together, we can make sense of the patterns that have shaped your life and explore new ways of moving forward.
I work relationally and draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, adapting therapy to the individual rather than expecting you to fit a particular model. Alongside my wider practice, I have a particular interest in neurodivergence, trauma and the nervous system, recognising the unique ways our experiences shape how we relate to ourselves and the world.
Above all, I want therapy to be a place where you don't have to perform, mask or have everything figured out. My hope is that you'll feel genuinely seen, heard and understood.

Practice description
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) Degree and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling from Matrix College of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the UKCP and a registered member of the BACP.
Throughout my career, I have worked with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, PTSD and CPTSD, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, menopause, neurodivergence, sensory differences, and the lasting impact of adverse life experiences. This is not an exhaustive list, and I welcome enquiries if you're unsure whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Continuing professional development is an important part of my practice. I regularly undertake additional training to ensure my work remains informed by current research and best practice. Alongside my broader core training, I have a particular professional interest in neurodivergence and continue to deepen my understanding of neuro-affirming practice, ADHD and autism, alongside complex trauma (CPTSD), narcissistic abuse and attachment.
As an accredited member of the UKCP and registered member of the BACP, I work within their ethical frameworks and always practise within the limits of my competence, ensuring that client safety and wellbeing remain at the heart of my work.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call, or we can communicate by email if that feels more comfortable. This gives us the opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and consider whether I feel like the right counsellor for you.
Before our first session, I will send you some information about how I work, together with the necessary paperwork and our counselling agreement. This explains the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and your rights as a client, giving you time to read everything before we meet.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another. We'll spend some time discussing the counselling agreement and any questions you may have before exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. There is no expectation to tell your whole story in the first session. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with the aim of creating a space where you feel heard, understood and able to be yourself.
If you would like to find out more or arrange an introductory conversation, please feel free to contact me by email in the first instance.
