About me and my therapy practice

I help survivors and other people move forward and to find relief from the symptoms of anxiety, low mood, shame, embarrassment, guilt, pain, nightmares and flashbacks, low self-esteem and what can feel like the repeated daily life of grind and being stuck. I support adults towards reaching their existing potential and being able to continue to grow their potential whilst overcoming challenges of everyday life and/or past trauma.

I offer adult survivors of sexual abuse and assault, and childhood abuse a safe place, either online or face to face, where collaborating with me, they can find their own solutions to moving forward from trauma. I aim to help all my clients feel that they matter and that they are believed by listening without judgement or prejudice and allow them to work at their own pace once they feel trust has been established between us.

Bringing an integrative approach to sessions, I support clients to decide what they want to do in the sessions. An integrative approach enables me to help clients focus on the here and now and the future whilst helping them, when they are ready, to face and move forward from whatever is holding them back and keeping them stuck. My integrative approach includes the use of skills and techniques from the following:

Solution Focused Approach – instilling the belief in you that there is a way forward.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy – supporting you to find the link between your mood, thoughts, behaviours, biology (heart rate/feeling sick etc) and determining realistic achievable actions to find your way forward.

Attachment Theory – helping you connect the past you to your current you.

Person Centred – helping you back to the real you or even discovering the real you for the first time.

Clinical and Medical Hypnosis which can help you with pain or finding moments of peace and calm in your everyday life can help you to clarity about what to do next.

Muss rewind therapy specifically for flashbacks, nightmares, and phobias.

Practice description

I bring my high levels of integrity, compassion and empathy to the sessions and enable you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you by working at your pace. Our therapeutic relationship is core to the sessions, and I am aware you need space and time to build trust and belief in the process and our ability to work together.

My first session

Our first session together will include contracting (briefly explaining my qualifications and the professional ethics I work to and how that helps to keep you safe, confidentiality and what we expect from each other re bookings and cancellations on both sides), reviewing how you are coping right now and how you are keeping psychologically and physically safe. Together we will reflect on your coping mechanisms and what you can start to do or do more of to help you with your emotional and mental wellbeing and mental health. My aim is that by the end of the first session you are starting to feel more comfortable and confident about us working together and have hope about moving towards where you want to be.
