About me and my therapy practice

I bring my warmth and sensitivity to my work which is unique to each client. I draw upon person-centred, psychosynthesis and mindfulness-based therapies and believe in de-mystifying the therapeutic process so will be open about my approach as we go along.

I have particular experience in working with identity issues (ie loss of self), anxiety and depression. I also understand the difficulty that often arises at different life stages (including mid-life/menopause). I create an empathic, confidential, accepting space for you to explore and experience being fully seen and heard just as you are.

I will help you to recognise the different and often conflicting parts of yourself in order for you to come into relationship with them which will then help you to change unwanted behaviours and unhelpful habits. We will look at the relationship between your body, feelings and mind and work to understand your limiting self-beliefs and the pain that comes from this.

Practice description

I trained in Psychosynthesis which is a transpersonal (soulful) modality but the way I work is integrative meaning I combine several different approaches as appropriate. Psychosynthesis values the spiritual aspect of human experience and views pain and crisis as opportunity for change and growth. It is about bringing together the various aspects of ones personality leading to self-awareness and wholeness.

In my experience it is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client which mostly determines a positive outcome. I provide a calm and solid container for you to move through difficult material as you discover what is blocking you or keeping you stuck and learn to nurture yourself as you gain more internal ease.

About me and my therapy practice

I’m Jane Nicola, a fully-qualified and registered BACP Psychosynthesis therapist.

I trained for 3yrs at the Psychosynthesis Trust (Post-grad Diploma) and before that had a successful career in TV/Media. My manner is warm and friendly and I aim to foster a trusting, respectful relationship that enables us to unpack what is not possible for you to work on alone.

My personal story is one of change, together with a search for meaning and purpose beyond my career and family. A yearning for a deeper connection to myself and others led to the beginning of my Psychosynthesis journey. Psychosynthesis is an integrative therapy which calls to people who are wanting change or who recognise the time is right to find out more about themselves. It is especially relevant around the time of mid-life and menopause but can apply to any stage of life where there is a sense of internal unease and uncertainty.

I work uniquely with each client drawing upon person-centred, psychodynamic and mindfulness-based therapies. I will help you to recognise the different and often conflicting parts of yourself in order for you to be in relationship with them, thereby gaining a sense of spaciousness in the midst of whatever difficulty is present. We will explore how the self is wanting to express and look at the relationship between your body, feelings and mind. I will help you to recognise the pain that comes from limiting self-beliefs, the patterns and behaviours that hold you back and what it is that is keeping you stuck or resisting change. I provide a calm and solid container for you to move through difficult material as you learn to nurture yourself and become open and receptive to what might be trying to emerge in terms of awareness.

Practice description

The therapeutic journey is about fully coming into relationship with oneself and, through that, we find that relationships with others become more authentic. In my experience, it is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client which mostly determines a positive outcome. I offer an empathic, confidential and accepting space for you to experience being fully seen and heard, just as you are.

The word Psychosynthesis literally means to bring together various aspects of one's mind. Psychosynthesis focuses on harmonising the various aspects of the personal self to encourage awareness and self-development.
