About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified, experienced therapeutic counsellor and a member of the BACP. I work with individuals and couples. My therapy space is based in SE20 and I also offer online sessions. I offer a safe compassionate space for you to share your story and explore the challenges you are facing. Life can be challenging, confusing, overwhelming and complicated at times. Whether you are seeking help for a problem that is known to you, or perhaps you are feeling stuck or lost in life but unsure why, I will hold a supportive space and sit with you in your experience to help find a way forwards. I am passionate about helping my clients create the lasting changes they hope for. I believe that developing self-awareness and a relationship with ourselves first and foremost, is the catalyst for change and growth. I welcome people from all walks of life and I work with intention, empathy and warmth.

I am passionate about helping my clients create the lasting changes they hope for. I believe that developing self-awareness and a relationship with ourselves first and foremost, is the catalyst for change and growth. I work with intention, empathy and warmth. It is important to me that you get the most out of the counselling I offer, and I will check in regularly with you about how you are feeling about the work, what is helping and anything you may wish to change.

Practice description

Counselling is a collaborative process; we will work together to establish what you would like from the counselling and develop a way of working that suits you and your needs. At the heart of my practice is developing a trusting relationship. This is key to exploring the things that have impacted you, what has shaped you and the way you see the world. Sometimes to understand our present experiences it can be helpful to become curious about our past, our patterns of behaviour and the way we relate to those around us. I understand this can feel new, scary or uncomfortable for some people and we will always do this in a way that feels safe for you and take the work in a direction that feels right for you.

I know from personal experience how powerful and life changing therapy can be. I welcome people from all walks of life and I am committed to holding a supportive space for you to:

• make sense of life experiences and process painful thoughts and feelings

• build yourself back up again and gain greater sense of self and self worth

• explore any blocks if you are feeling stuck or unsure about what’s next, in some cases you may not know what it is that feels wrong but we can work together to find a way forwards.

• look at how the past can inform the present, discovering patterns or behaviours that may be holding you back or not serving you.

• reconnect with parts of yourself you may have lost touch to help you recognise your values and needs, giving you a sense of direction and purpose.

• explore changes in identity or loss of certain parts of identity

• explore how we relate to others and how this impacts important relationships.

These are just some of the ways therapy might help, but there are many other challenges that may come up in our work together.

My approach is integrative, drawing from different therapeutic models and tailoring this to suit your needs.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute introductory call. This can be over the telephone or a video call. This is an opportunity to see if we are a good fit to work together and to talk further about the support you are looking for and your hopes for therapy. This initial call is also a chance for you to ask me any questions about my practice and share any concerns or worries you may have about starting therapy.
