I work with clients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. My first session begins at 9.30am and my last session of the day starts at 7 pm.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer face-to-face therapy in the West Bridgford, Nottingham and also provide online sessions for anyone in the U.K. I work with clients on a one session per week basis, although I am flexible with this and have clients that I see fortnightly or monthly. Sessions last 50 minutes. I work with open-ended contracts, meaning that the client decides the length of our work together and can choose to end at any point.
Practice description
I am an experienced therapist working within the Person-Centred model. This is based on Carl Rogers' theory of constructive personal change; an approach based on the hypothesis that lasting, meaningful growth always occurs in the optimal relationship conditions provided by the therapist. The catalyst for change comes from within the client. As a result, I do not view my practice as fixing, mending or healing clients. I focus on establishing high quality, genuine relationships - as is required by Rogers' theory. The result is a safe relationship that permits you to become increasingly aware of your own agency and sense of self, in turn reducing the degree of self-deception and distortion in your conscious experience. Rogers' theory suggests that self deception and our unwitting distortion of experience explains many kinds of problematic human experience .
My clients base are often people seeking solutions to negative or distressing experiences. They might be struggling with patterns of behaviour that impact their well-being and relationships. My practice is non-directive, meaning you determine the focus of our conversations. My view my role as creating a safe, trusting relationship in which you can experience genuine care, non-judgement and understanding. Through this process, you will begin to see yourself in a new light, allowing for deeper self-acceptance. As this self-acceptance grows, meaningful and lasting changes can take place—changes that come from within and align with your authentic self. Here is a link to some current research into the effectiveness of Person-Centered therapy to help with anxiety and depression. (bit.ly/43ejvw8).
My first session
Choosing the right therapist is an important decision—one that requires trust and a sense of connection. To help you determine if I’m the right fit for you, I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This session allows you to explore your reasons for seeking therapy and ask any questions, including those about costs and session frequency.
During your first full session, we’ll establish a verbal agreement outlining boundaries and expectations to ensure a safe and effective working relationship. From that point forward, you decide what we discuss, with me providing the support and space for meaningful exploration and growth.
