About me and my therapy practice

My Sessions

Counselling is available to anyone, regardless of gender, who may be struggling with their thoughts, feelings, experiences, or overall wellbeing. Your reasons for seeking counselling will be met with empathy, understanding, and without judgement. It is a space chosen by you, where you can pause, reflect, and feel heard, seen, and valued. You may not always know how you feel or how to put your experiences into words – and that's okay. Sessions move at your pace and in your own time. Together, we can explore your thoughts and feelings in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful for you.

As counselling progresses, you may develop a deeper understanding of yourself, increased self-awareness, greater confidence, and feel more empowered to communicate your needs and establish healthy boundaries in your personal and professional life.

My Experience

I work with clients whose reasons for counselling may be short-term or long-term and vary in complexity. My experience includes supporting people with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, bereavement, childhood experiences and trauma, neurodiversity, communication difficulties, relationship issues, and family dynamics.

I also support students aged 11–16 within a secondary school, helping them navigate the challenges of school life, relationships, family experiences, and emotional wellbeing. In addition, I work as an Academic Specialist Mentor, supporting neurodivergent university students to manage their studies, develop independent living skills, and adapt to university life.

Practice description

About My Practice

I am the founder and owner of Spread Your Wings Therapy and offer online and telephone counselling to adults across the UK.

I am currently unable to provide face-to-face sessions. Telephone counselling can take place using a phone of your choice, whether personal, work, or provided by a family member or carer.

To ensure counselling is safe, confidential, and effective, please attend sessions from a private space with minimal distractions. Sessions should not be attended whilst driving or undertaking activities that require your full attention. I am also unable to safely support you if you are participating in a session whilst working.

Online sessions are held through the secure platform Microsoft Teams and can be accessed using a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or computer. The same guidance regarding privacy, safety, and minimising distractions applies to online appointments.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in your own time and at your own pace.

My first session

The first session

Our first meeting together will be the initial consultation. During this time, you can learn more about me and my counselling practice, ask any questions you may have, and if you feel comfortable, discuss your reasons for seeking counselling. It is an opportunity for us to see whether we feel we can work together and build a trusting therapeutic relationship.

If you decide to proceed with counselling, a counselling agreement and personal details form will be sent to you by email. These documents explain confidentiality and its limits, and collect the information required for record keeping and insurance purposes. All information is stored in line with GDPR regulations.

In your first session, you can bring any topic into the conversation. You may know exactly what you would like to talk about, or you may be unsure where to begin. Both are completely okay. Sessions move at your pace, and there is no expectation for you to share anything before you feel ready.

Sessions take place weekly and last 50 minutes. The number of sessions you attend is your choice and will depend on your individual needs and circumstances. When you feel ready to end counselling, you are welcome to discuss this at any time. Although sessions can end immediately, many people find a final session helpful to reflect on their journey, acknowledge their progress, and consider life after counselling.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch.
