Hi, I’m a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming counsellor based in Cornwall, offering in-person sessions in Redruth and Falmouth, and online or telephone therapy across the UK.
About me and my therapy practice
Does life feel more like survival than living?
Maybe it feels as though the mind never really switches off. Slowing down can be hard, and rest does not always come easily. Are you trying to keep going because life demands it, paying the bills, getting things done, and being there for others, even though it feels as though it is pushing you closer to your edge?
You might be keeping up appearances on the outside, while underneath things feel heavier, more overwhelming, or harder to hold together. Ways of coping that once helped no longer bring the same relief, and are starting to feel harder to ignore.
This can show up in different ways:
Can busy places sometimes feel more tiring than they used to? Can crowds, noise, bright lights, queues, or too much social contact leave you needing space, quiet, or time to yourself?
Do certain tones, places, or moments seem to bring up something strong before you have had time to make sense of it? Can it feel as though part of you is reacting to something deeper, even when another part knows you are safe?
Is it sometimes difficult to switch off at the end of the day? Have things like scrolling, drinking, drugs, porn, gambling, or comfort eating started to feel like ways of finding relief, even if that relief does not always last?
Are your feelings becoming harder to make sense of? Perhaps they seem to shift from one day to the next, leaving you feeling confused, unsettled, or unsure of what is happening underneath.
A safe place to begin:
Therapy can offer a steady, confidential, and non-judgemental space where there is no pressure to explain everything at once.
Things can unfold at a pace that feels manageable, with room for reflection, understanding, and support.
Sessions are only one hour each week, available online or by telephone worldwide, with in person options in Cornwall. A free initial consultation is also available to help you decide whether the fit feels right.
Practice description
Therapy shaped around you:
Everyone experiences and describes their feelings differently, so therapy needs to move with you in real time rather than fit you into boxes. My training allows me to work in a way that is shaped around what each person is struggling with, rather than using a one size fits all approach. For some, that may mean exploring how the past or earlier relationships have shaped the way they see themselves and others. For others, it may involve understanding how trauma continues to keep them stuck, or finding new ways of coping that feel healthier and more supportive over time.
Who I work with:
I work with adults who may be finding life difficult for many different reasons. Some come to therapy with clear reasons for seeking support, while others simply know that something does not feel right and want somewhere to begin exploring it.
I have a specialist interest in working with trauma, including CPTSD, as well as autism, ADHD, addiction and recovery, and men’s mental health. These experiences are often misunderstood by society, and sometimes by friends and family too, which can leave people feeling judged, dismissed, or alone.
Training and qualifications:
I am a qualified MBACP counsellor and psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I continue to develop my practice through ongoing professional development to ensure my work remains current, ethical, and informed.
What clients say:
Clients often say they begin to feel clearer, steadier, and more able to understand themselves over time. Many notice changes in how they respond to stress, relationships, and the pressures of day to day life.
Many describe the sessions as calm, practical, and easy to talk in, helping them open up, reflect, and feel less alone with what they are carrying.
Next step:
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. A free initial consultation offers a chance to ask questions, talk things through, and get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit.
My first session
Your first session is a chance to slow things down and begin making sense of what has been happening. We will talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what you are finding hardest right now, and what you would like to be different. You do not need to have the right words. You can bring whatever you have, and we will work it out together at your pace.
We will also agree how we will work together, including boundaries, confidentiality, and what you can expect from sessions. If it helps, you are welcome to start with a free initial consultation before booking a first session, so you can ask questions and decide whether I am the right therapist for you.
