Hi, I’m a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming counsellor based in Cornwall, offering in-person sessions in Redruth and Falmouth, and online or telephone therapy across the UK.
About me and my therapy practice
When life feels like too much
If your head is busy all the time and your body never fully relaxes, you can end up just getting through the days rather than living them. Therapy can give you space to slow things down, talk honestly, and feel more at peace in yourself, so life feels more manageable.
When life feels like a battle
Busy places feel like hard work, crowds, noise, bright lights, queues, or lots of social contact can leave you drained and desperate to shut the world out.
The past still shows up, certain tones, places, or moments can hit you suddenly, like your body is back there again, even when you know you are safe now.
Switching off is starting to worry you, scrolling, drinking, drugs, porn, gambling, or comfort eating can feel like the only off-switch, then you feel worse afterwards.
Your emotions feel complicated, low, irritable, angry, then numb, leaving you feeling misunderstood or “too much.”
A safe place to begin
In my experience, many people wait until things feel like a crisis before they reach out. Therapy can feel like it might open the floodgates to emotions you will not recover from. You do not have to wait for rock bottom. Therapy is a safe place to stabilise first, we go at your pace, and we start with what feels manageable.
Sessions are one hour a week. I offer online or telephone therapy across the UK, with in-person options in Cornwall. You can start with a free initial consultation to see whether I am the right fit.
Practice description
Why work with me
Therapy with me is practical, paced, and human. We focus on what is happening in your day-to-day life, not just talking in circles.
We make sense of patterns, triggers, and nervous system responses, so you feel less overwhelmed and more in control.
We build coping tools you can use, grounding, emotional regulation, and clear steps between sessions, so life feels more manageable week to week.
We work on boundaries, masking, self-worth, and the pressure to “keep it together”, so you can stop carrying everything alone and live in a way that fits you.
I know what it is like to keep going on the outside while struggling underneath, and to cope in ways you are not proud of because you do not know what else to do. That is part of why I do this work. Life can get us sometimes. Therapy can be a place to reset, without having to follow everyone else’s rules or pretend you are fine.
My approach is grounded and straight-talking. Before retraining as a therapist, I worked in construction for years, and I bring that down-to-earth style into the room. I am a qualified MBACP counsellor and psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I keep my practice current through ongoing professional development.
Previous clients have said our work helped them understand themselves more clearly, spot unhelpful patterns, and feel less overwhelmed day to day. You can read more testimonials here, https://www.domstherapeuticcounselling.com/testimonials
