About me and my therapy practice
Humanistic practitioner working in person from rooms in Ryde, I can offer remote counselling online and over the phone. I place a strong emphasis on empathy, non-judgment, safety, and respect, ensuring that my clients feel understood and cared for.
I work collaboratively with clients, respecting their autonomy and empowering them to take control of their lives. Together, we create a therapeutic space that honours autonomy, fosters congruence, and supports emotional resilience. Drawing on humanistic principles, I aim to build a relationship grounded in trust and authenticity, where lived experience is valued and my client's voice is central.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, I recognise the profound impact of trauma on psychological well-being. I integrate safeguarding awareness and ethical sensitivity into every aspect of my work, from ensuring confidentiality to respecting diversity and differences, ensuring that care is not only compassionate but also responsible and attuned to clients' needs.
Practice description
At the heart of my offering is the relationship between counsellor and client. Research consistently shows that the quality of this relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy. I therefore prioritise building a warm, respectful, and collaborative connection.
Clients can expect me to:
Listen deeply and without interruption.
Validate their feelings and experiences.
Respect their boundaries and pace.
Encourage exploration while honouring safety.
Be transparent about my process and intentions.
The relationship is not static; it evolves as trust grows. Many clients find that experiencing a genuine, supportive relationship in therapy helps them re‑imagine what is possible in other areas of their lives
My first session
In our first session, we will complete an assessment. This initial assessment is both clinically necessary and an opportunity for building a relationship. It ensures well-being while fostering trust, setting boundaries, and encouraging collaboration. In short, the first session assessment is both a clinical necessity and a relational opportunity: it safeguards wellbeing while laying the groundwork for trust, boundaries, and collaboration
