About me and my therapy practice

Welcome

Whether you’re struggling with the impact of your own past, worried about your child, or finding family relationships difficult, therapy can provide a space to slow things down and understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

I work with adults, children, teenagers, parents and families experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, challenging behaviour and the effects of trauma or difficult early experiences. You may feel stuck in familiar patterns, unsure why certain situations trigger such strong emotions, or worried that relationships have become tense or disconnected.

Together, we’ll look beyond symptoms and behaviour to understand the emotional needs, experiences and relationship patterns underneath them. My aim is to support greater emotional safety, stronger relationships and lasting change.

Who I Work With

I support adults affected by trauma, difficult childhood experiences or relationship difficulties; children and teenagers experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, friendship, school or behavioural difficulties; parents wanting to better understand their child’s emotional and behavioural needs; and families wanting to improve communication, strengthen relationships or navigate conflict and change.

My Approach

I specialise in trauma, attachment and family systems. I recognise that our experiences and relationships influence how we see ourselves, connect with others and respond to life’s challenges.

My approach is integrative and tailored to each person or family. Alongside Person-Centred therapy, I draw on attachment-informed practice, nervous system regulation, parts work, psychoeducation and creative approaches where appropriate.

Therapy is not simply about managing symptoms. Together, we explore what sits beneath them, building understanding and creating more helpful ways forward. I offer a warm, collaborative space where experiences can be explored with curiosity, compassion and without judgement.

Practice description

My practice is based in Lymm, Cheshire, where I offer a calm, private and welcoming space for therapy.

I work with adults, children, teenagers, parents and families, both individually and together depending on what support is needed. My practice is particularly suited to people who want to understand not just what is happening, but why, whether that relates to anxiety, emotional regulation, behaviour, relationships, trauma or difficulties within family life.

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to the person or family I’m working with. For adults and teenagers, this may involve talking, reflection and exploring patterns, emotions and relationships. When working with children, I often use creative and practical approaches such as drawing, play, sandtray and other therapeutic activities to help them communicate and make sense of experiences that can be difficult to put into words.

When working with parents or families, we can explore what is happening within the wider family system, including communication, emotional needs, patterns of interaction and how everyone can feel more understood and connected.

I don’t believe therapy should be about having to ‘fix’ yourself or your child. It is about creating enough safety and understanding to begin making sense of what is happening and finding different ways forward.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin to understand what has brought you to therapy.

We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you’d like support with and what you hope might be different as a result of therapy. I’ll also ask some questions about your current circumstances and, where relevant, your relationships and previous experiences, so that I can begin to understand the wider picture rather than focusing only on the immediate difficulty.

There’s no expectation that you need to arrive knowing exactly what you need or be able to explain everything clearly. Sometimes it takes time to work out what’s really going on, and that’s okay.

If I’m working with a child or young person, the initial session will usually involve the child or young person alongside their main parent or carers. Where appropriate, siblings may also be included, as understanding the wider family relationships and dynamics can be an important part of the therapeutic work. This gives us an opportunity to talk together about what is happening, hear different perspectives and begin to understand the wider picture. I’ll also spend time getting to know the child or young person and beginning to build a therapeutic relationship with them.

The way we structure the initial session will depend on the age, needs and circumstances of the child and family. We’ll then agree together what would be most helpful going forward, whether that involves individual sessions, parent support or ongoing family work.
