About me and my therapy practice

How I Work

I believe counselling works best when you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. My aim is to offer a relaxed, supportive space where you can talk openly without worrying about being judged. You don't need to have all the answers, know where to start, or even be sure what's wrong. We can figure things out together.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. There is no "one size fits all" in therapy, because we're all different. Some people want space to talk and feel heard, while others want to understand patterns, learn new coping strategies, or explore how past experiences are affecting them now. Together, we'll find an approach that fits you.

I have experience supporting people with addiction and recovery, anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues and life's many ups and downs. Whatever brings you to counselling, I'll meet you with compassion, honesty and respect.

I'm a down-to-earth person and I bring that into my work. I don't believe in hiding behind jargon or acting like I have all the answers. The relationship we build is important, and I see counselling as a partnership where we work together at a pace that feels right for you.

My hope is that you leave sessions feeling heard, understood and a little less alone with whatever you're carrying. Whether you're looking for support through recovery, struggling with life's challenges, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I'm here to walk alongside you.

Practice description

Practice Description

Life can be challenging at times, and sometimes we all need a space where we can be completely ourselves without feeling judged, criticised or expected to have everything figured out.

My practice offers a warm, supportive and genuine environment where you can talk openly about whatever is going on for you. People come to counselling for many different reasons, including anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, loss, low self-esteem, life changes, family issues, or simply a feeling that something isn't quite right.

As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is no single approach that works for everyone. We are all unique, with different experiences, needs and ways of understanding ourselves. Together, we'll find an approach that feels right for you and work at a pace that feels comfortable.

I am known for being warm, down to earth and easy to talk to. I don't hide behind professional jargon or pretend to have all the answers. I see counselling as a real relationship between two people, where trust, honesty and feeling understood can lead to meaningful change.

Whether you're facing a specific difficulty, going through a challenging period in life, or looking to understand yourself on a deeper level, I will meet you with compassion, curiosity and acceptance. My aim is to help you feel heard, supported and empowered to make sense of your experiences and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

You don't need to be in crisis to reach out for support. Sometimes counselling is simply a place to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself. Whatever brings you here, you are welcome exactly as you are.

My first session

My First Session

I see the first session as an opportunity for us to have a chat, get to know each other and see whether we feel like a good fit. It's a bit like sitting down for a cuppa and having the space to talk about what's brought you to counselling, without any pressure or expectations.

I understand that starting counselling can feel nerve-wracking, so there's no need to prepare anything special or worry about saying the "right" thing. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

During our first session, we'll explore what has brought you to counselling, what you'd like support with, and what you hope to gain from the process. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about how I work.

I may ask for some basic information and discuss confidentiality, boundaries and practical arrangements, but the main focus is on helping you feel comfortable and understood.

Most importantly, the first session is as much for you as it is for me. Finding the right counsellor is important, and I believe you should leave feeling that you've had the opportunity to decide whether I'm the right person to support you on your journey.
