My hours are Monday-Friday 08:00 - 20:00About me and my therapy practice
If you’re here, there’s probably something you’ve been carrying on your own for a while, stress, anger, numbness, pressure to “just get on with it”, or a sense that you don’t feel like yourself anymore. Reaching out can feel uncomfortable, especially if you’re not used to talking about what’s going on inside. My aim is to make that first step clear, straightforward, and grounded.
I’m a counsellor based in Newton Abbot, working with adults, often men, who feel overwhelmed, shut down, on edge, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. You might be finding it hard to switch off, struggling in relationships, or feeling like you’re constantly holding everything together. Together, we look at what’s happening beneath the surface, where it comes from, and what will actually help.
Counselling isn’t about fixing you or picking apart everything that’s ever happened. It’s a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and reconnect with parts of yourself you may have pushed aside to cope. The aim is for you to feel more steady, more yourself, and more able to handle what life throws at you.
I offer a free 15‑minute telephone consultation so you can get an Idea how I work and if i'm the right fit.
You bring your experience, I bring a calm, steady space and practical, trauma‑centred tools. We work at a pace that suits you, focusing on what’s most pressing in your life right now, whether that’s anger, stress, shame, relationship strain, or feeling lost.
Clients often describe my style as grounded, straightforward, and non‑judgemental. I’ll listen carefully, reflect what I’m hearing, and gently challenge when something doesn’t quite fit with the life you say you want. I draw on approaches such as Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, Person‑Centred Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry and somatic work, but I won’t drown you in jargon.
My intention is simple: that you feel heard, understood, and supported while you figure out what needs to change and how you want to move forward.
Practice description
A large part of my work is supporting men who feel overwhelmed, shut down, irritable, or disconnected from themselves. Many grew up with messages like “don’t show emotion”, “be strong”, or “just get on with it”. These beliefs can make it hard to talk, hard to trust, and hard to understand what’s happening inside. In therapy, we explore how these ideas were formed, how they show up now, and what healthier, more grounded alternatives might look like.
My work with men focuses on building emotional clarity, confidence, and a steadier sense of self. This isn’t about changing who you are. it’s about giving you space to understand yourself without pressure or judgement.
I help men:
make sense of their emotions
build confidence and self‑worth
challenge outdated ideas about masculinity
reconnect with their own value
feel “enough” without needing to prove anything
Many men describe feeling relief, direction, and a clearer sense of themselves as this work unfolds.
What therapy can support you with
anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
low mood or depression
relationship or family strain
shame, self‑criticism, or low self‑esteem
identity and purpose
emotional shutdown or numbness
life transitions
feeling stuck or disconnected
Training, qualifications & experience
Level 2, 3, and 4 Diplomas in Counselling
Experience supporting children, young adults, and adults
Additional training in:
Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy
Compassionate Inquiry
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Male‑centred psychology
My commitment
My work is built on a simple principle: you come first. You set the pace, choose the focus, and decide what feels safe to explore.
What is the end result?
Therapy can help you face difficult thoughts and feelings with clarity instead of fear. Over time, many clients feel more grounded, more steady, and more themselves. This work is about meeting what’s been weighing on you and moving toward a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.
My first session
Your first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other and understand what brings you to therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, we go at a pace that feels right for you.
Here’s what usually happens:
A gentle beginning
We’ll start by talking about what led you to seek counselling and what you’re hoping to get from the process. You don’t need to have clear goals or the “right words”, many people arrive unsure, and that’s completely okay.
Understanding your story
You’ll have space to talk about what’s been going on for you. I’ll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help you explore your thoughts and feelings with clarity and without judgement.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Eating disorders, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Work related issues
