About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Connor, a BACP-registered therapist offering online and phone counselling in Manchester (M1) and across the UK.
If you’ve found your way here, you might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low, or simply unsure what you need — only that something isn’t working as it used to. My hope is that this page gives you a sense of me and whether we may be a good fit.
I am professionally qualified and now have around three years of counselling experience. I’ve worked with clients facing:
• Anxiety
• Stress
• Relationship issues
• Bereavement and loss
• Uncertainty, confusion, feeling stuck
• Depression
• Caring responsibilities
• Big life transitions
• Expectations of masculinity
• Self-esteem difficulties
• Suicidal thoughts
• Trauma
• Faith challenges
• Navigating ADHD and Autism
I’ve also worked with a bereavement service and a carers’ charity, both of which deepened my understanding of grief and emotional load.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent five years working in homelessness services, mainly supporting young adults experiencing complex and overlapping challenges such as trauma, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, substance use, financial stress, anger, domestic abuse and isolation. This work taught me a great deal about resilience, vulnerability and the importance of being heard — and ultimately led me toward counselling.
Practice description
My approach is grounded in person-centred counselling*, which is collaborative, relational and led by what feels meaningful for you. I see therapy as something we work on together — you bring your experience, and I bring curiosity, training, and a fresh perspective.
In our sessions, we explore whatever feels important at your pace. Sometimes I might offer an observation — a theme, a feeling, a paradox, or a shift in tone or energy — not as a conclusion, but as something we can look at together and see whether it resonates. Other times, you might notice something yourself, and we’ll follow your sense of what matters.
I also pay attention to how we relate with each other in the room. Moments of connection, uncertainty, or misunderstanding can reflect patterns that appear in other parts of your life. Exploring these curiously and openly can help us understand how you experience others — and how you imagine others experience you.
My intention is to create a space where you feel supported, understood and able to make sense of things in your own way. Over time, this shared exploration can bring more clarity, space, self-awareness, and a sense of steadiness in how you meet the challenges you’re facing.
*If you’re new to counselling, it may be helpful to Google a short overview of different therapeutic approaches — it can make choosing the right therapist feel a little easier.
My first session
The Sessions
Some people come for a short time to process something specific; others stay longer to explore more widely - it’s up to you.
I try to check in regularly to see how things are going — what’s feeling helpful, what’s not, and whether anything needs to change in how we’re working together.
Sessions are held online or by phone. Each one lasts 60 minutes, with a few minutes at the start and end to settle in and wrap up.
Pricing
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session to get to know you and see if we are interested in working together.
To make therapy more accessible, I offer a sliding scale, allowing you to choose the rate that fits your situation. You choose the rate that fits you— no need to provide proof of your circumstances.
• Low Income Rate – £25/session
For those who may otherwise struggle to access therapy. (Limited to 25% of available slots)
• Standard Rate – £50/session
The regular rate that reflects the true cost of therapy. (50% of slots)
Gift a Session (+£25)
If ever you wish to contribute more, you can gift a session for someone on the low-income rate - to make it free for them.
A £25 donation covers one session and I will let the client know another client has made this kind gesture.
(I aim to distribute these fairly amongst clients— based on things like length of time working, the number of free sessions previously given, and their openness to receiving this kind of support.)
