About me and my therapy practice

Welcome

I'm a registered therapist working with men, women, and adolescents.

My approach

I work in a human, relational, and trauma-informed way, supporting people with a wide range of challenges. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and begin untangling the difficulties that may be present in your life.

Practice description

How I work

My approach is honest, grounded, and collaborative. While many of us live in a culture that seeks quick fixes, I believe meaningful and lasting change takes time. Therapy can be challenging at times, but you won't face it alone. I will walk alongside you with presence, curiosity, and care as we explore what matters most to you.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome

I'm Tim, a registered counsellor specialising in working with men and teenage boys.

I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and the challenges that come with finding their direction in life.

While I specialise in men's mental health, I also have extensive experience working with women and welcome people from all walks of life.

Whether you're facing a particular difficulty or simply feel that something in your life isn't quite right, therapy offers an opportunity to understand what's happening, work through your challenges, and begin finding a way forward.

You don't need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is honest, grounded, and collaborative.

I offer a space where you can speak openly about what's happening in your life, without judgement or pressure to be a particular way.

Together, we might explore anxiety, grief, difficult emotions, past experiences, relationships, or patterns of thinking and behaving that are no longer serving you. We may also explore deeper questions around identity, responsibility, purpose, and the direction you want your life to take.

Alongside developing a deeper understanding of yourself, I can offer practical tools and therapeutic approaches to help you navigate emotional difficulties, manage anxiety, process grief, and work through the challenges you're facing.

My role isn't to tell you how to live your life or provide quick fixes. It's to work alongside you, helping you develop the understanding, resources, and confidence to make meaningful changes in your life.

I believe lasting change takes time. While therapy can be challenging, you won't have to navigate those challenges alone.

Practice description

Working with men

Alongside my clinical practice, I co-founded a men's community and have extensive experience facilitating spaces where men can speak openly about their lives and challenges.

You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, intrusive thoughts, grief, relationship difficulties, or a sense that you've lost your direction.

Perhaps you've spent years keeping things to yourself, trying to manage problems alone, or feeling that you need to have everything under control.

Whatever brings you to therapy, you don't need to have the right words to explain it. Together, we can explore your experiences, develop ways of navigating life's challenges, and discover what it means to live a life that feels meaningful and true to you.

Working with teenage boys

Adolescence can bring challenges around identity, friendships, relationships, education, family expectations, and the transition towards adulthood.

I support teenage boys experiencing anxiety, low confidence, emotional difficulties, and uncertainty about themselves or their future.

I offer a supportive therapeutic relationship where young people can speak openly, understand themselves more deeply, and discover their own way forward.

Where appropriate, I also work collaboratively with parents and carers, offering guidance and support to foster greater understanding and communication within the family, while respecting the young person's privacy and independence.

Working with women

Although I specialise in working with men and teenage boys, I have extensive experience supporting women through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

These include anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, low self-worth, and experiences of abuse.

I offer a compassionate, respectful, and collaborative space where we can explore your experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your needs, and work towards meaningful change.

My first session

What to Expect From our First Session

Starting counselling can feel like a significant step, particularly if you're not used to talking openly about personal difficulties.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, how life is for you at the moment, and what you might hope to gain from our work together.

You might have a clear idea of what you want to address, or you might simply know that something needs to change. Both are perfectly good places to begin.

There will also be space for you to ask questions about me, my approach, and what working together might involve.

You won't be expected to share anything you're not ready to discuss. We can take things at a pace that feels right for you.
