About me and my therapy practice
Hello ! I’m Sam, a registered Psychotherapist based in Gloucestershire. I specialise in supporting people through life’s transitions — times of change that can often feel overwhelming and affect our mental or physical wellbeing. Sometimes these changes are our choice, and sometimes they arrive unexpectedly. Either way, they can stir up powerful emotions and lead to a sense of uncertainty, and a loss of identity and purpose.
In our sessions together, I offer a gentle, conversational space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, hopes, and fears at your own pace. Through sensitive questioning and warm curiosity, I aim to help you uncover some of the deeper, perhaps more hidden parts of yourself — supporting you to reconnect with who you are and how you’d like to move forward.
I work with adults and young people aged 13 and over, offering individual counselling for a wide range of issues. My background includes counselling within palliative care, where I supported people living with life-limiting illnesses and those coping with bereavement. I also bring over 20 years of pastoral experience working with young people, and I currently divide my time between private practice and a local charity offering counselling to children and young people in Gloucestershire.
Practice description
My main focus of my work is creating a safe environment when you feel listened to, so you can feel more comfortable to discuss what is bringing you to counselling. My approach is gentle and inclusive. I have extensive experience of working with the impacts of family and culture, as well as working with neurodivergent clients.
I am happy to work on a short term, session by session basis or offer long term therapy.
I can over reduced fees to trainee counsellors, +16 students or those on lower incomes.
My first session
Your first session will be an assessment session, where we discuss what has brought you to counselling and whether we feel we would be able to work together.
The first session is at a reduced cost of £30
Your sessions will last for 50 minutes and will be either in person, online or over the telephone, depending on what you would prefer.
Once you have decided that you would like to go ahead, I will book you in for a session and send you the contract for you to go through in your own time. Any questions can be either answered in your first session or by sending me an email.
