About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Lisa.
Being listened to in the right way can help you feel better.
I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, registered with the BACP.
I work online with young people (age 10+) and adults, UK wide.
I live in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, where I enjoy the coastlines, forests and mountains. I regularly walk on my local beach with my small ginger rescue dog, Eddie. I have various hobbies and interests, including gardening, reading and crafting.
If life feels overwhelming, finding a compassionate space to talk can make all the difference. I offer a safe, authentic and non-judgemental environment, designed to help you navigate life's challenges, find clarity and move forward.
Maybe you are feeling low, experiencing a life transition or struggling with emotional hurdles - perhaps you just have a sense that you are not okay. Working together at your own pace, I can provide the empathetic support you need to develop coping strategies and rebuild your inner confidence.
Person-centred counselling is a client-led approach, based on a positive and hopeful belief in human potential - that everyone can change and grow if they are placed in a nurturing environment. Within the therapeutic relationship, counsellor observations can help clients to understand their perceived reality and alter their thinking and behaviour, so they can live in a more fully functional way.
Online therapy: Research has found that online therapy via video call, is as effective as in-person sessions (British Journal of Clinical Psychology, 2026). I am an accredited online therapist.
Information for young people: Counselling gives you a safe space to talk things through. I will not tell you what to do but I can help you try and work things out.
Life is difficult and sometimes things happen that we can struggle to cope with. At other times, we just do not know why we feel what we are feeling.
We will talk about what may be bothering you and how counselling might help. You can talk about whatever is important to you.

Experience
Before setting up my private practice, I worked as a counsellor in third sector organisations, the NHS and primary and secondary schools.
I have been a teacher for twenty years, in primary and secondary schools, specialising in additional support needs. Having worked with young people for two decades, in part as a school counsellor, I have extensive experience of supporting a range of needs including those around social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and neurodiversity.
I have been working therapeutically with adults for five years, which I am equally passionate about.
