Hi, I work Mon-Fri 8:30 - 6:30 and later on Wednesdays and usually have availability for new clients within a week of so.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Nigel Skinner. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in North Wales, working with adults who may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, trauma, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, workplace pressure, or a sense of feeling stuck.
Before becoming a therapist, my background was in senior management within large organisations, where I worked closely with people, teams and leaders. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how life, work, relationships and identity can affect our mental health. It also shaped my interest in psychology, human behaviour and the importance of having the right support at the right time.
My approach is calm, professional and human. I aim to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. You do not need to have everything worked out before starting counselling. Many people come to therapy knowing only that something feels difficult, heavy or unclear.
Together, we can explore your experiences, make sense of what is happening for you, and consider practical ways to help you cope, adapt and move forward. My work is centred around helping you feel more balanced, resilient and able to manage life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
I am also the founder of Enestee Practice, a local counselling and mental wellbeing practice based in North East Wales. We provide ethical and professional mental health support for individuals, workplaces and communities.
Practice description
Enestee Practice is a local counselling and mental wellbeing practice based in North East Wales. We provide calm, professional and human support for individuals, workplaces and communities.
I founded Enestee with the aim of offering high-quality, ethical and evidence-informed mental health support that feels personal, accessible and grounded in real life. The practice has developed from my own counselling work into a wider local service, with counselling led by myself and Steph Parsley, and where appropriate supported by other carefully selected local counsellors.
At Enestee, we understand that people come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, work-related pressure, self-doubt, or a general sense that you are not coping as well as you would like. You may not know exactly what you need, and that is completely normal.
Our role is to help you find the right support. Through a clear and uncomplicated matching process, we take time to understand what is bringing you to counselling and recommend a suitable counsellor or next step. This means clients do not need to decide alone which therapist, approach or type of support is right for them.
Enestee offers face-to-face counselling from our practice in Holywell, North Wales, as well as online or telephone counselling where appropriate. Alongside individual therapy, we also support workplaces through employee wellbeing consultancy, mental health training, wellbeing workshops and practical resources.
Our work is based on professionalism, trust, confidentiality and care. Whether you are seeking counselling for yourself, looking for support for your employees, or exploring a community wellbeing partnership, Enestee aims to provide meaningful support that is local, credible and personal.
My first session
Depending on you own wishes, we may hold a short free introduction call by telephone to firm up your requirements.
I work in-person (if you are local) and by telephone or video (completely your choice). Prior to our first full session I will send you several emails to gather necessary registration information and your consents for me to hold certain personal data. Included will be a health survey to give me a baseline for your current state of mental wellbeing.
When we first meet I will be trying to ascertain as much context about you and your life as possible and we may jump around talking about different things as they come up. I will be asking you what has brought you to counselling and about your desired outcomes from our sessions.
Counselling is successful when there is a mutual understanding and level of comfort, confidence and trust between myself as the counsellor and you as my client. Early sessions are about us building this therapeutic relationship. Sessions are entirely confidential and you may be disclosing very personal information, it is important that you feel comfortable doing so.
