About me and my therapy practice

It can be a daunting prospect trying to find a counsellor. Especially the right one for you. Where do you start?

Well, my experience is in supporting people through depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship issues, existential despair, handling a recent ADHD diagnosis or wondering if you might be ADHD / OCD / AuDHD and what that might mean for you.

I draw on a range of techniques to suit your needs. In our sessions I will create a safe, non-judgmental environment and confidential relationship within which you will feel comfortable enough to explore whatever issues you are facing. I will treat you with respect and offer a genuine relationship.

If you are curious to learn more about what therapy with me might be like, we can have a free 10-15-minute phone consultation. Reaching out can be a difficult step, but there is no commitment required on your part until you are happy that I am the right fit for you and you decide you want to work with me.

A little about me:

I live in Liverpool but have strong family ties to the North East. I have a passion for music, playing the drum set and the banjo. I love being outdoors watching nature and I strongly value social justice and human rights.

My background is in teaching, in which I have helped many young adults from diverse backgrounds improve their skills and apply their knowledge. I value my students' creativity and imagination.

Practice description

I work from a number of offices around liverpool.

First there's 'Sunflowers' which is a charity on Aigburth Road, it's a 9min walk from St Michael's station and 2mins from Lark lane and Sefton Park. It's nice to go for a walk pre or post therapy. There's also a bus services 82, 82A, 500, 60, X4, and 800

There's also Rodney street which is a beautiful building and our room is on the second floor. Very cosy and light. It's a 12min walk from Limestreet and Central station.

Also there is 1 Old Hall street which is opposite the Old Hall street exit to Moorefields station. This is a lovely building with an elevator and a very quiet 4th floor room with plants and great daylight.

I also work online and on the phone if you'd prefer, just let me know.

My first session

The first session will be an opportunity to ask questions about the process and we will set up a working contract. This will keep our work safe and professional. I'll ask a few questions and we will take the session at your pace.

We will decide together what form the therapy takes.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello,  we will begin with what is most important in the moment,  I will offer a non-judgmental and confidential relationship within which you will feel safe enough to explore the issues you are facing. I will treat you with respect, and offer support, reflections and challenges to enable you to find solutions that work for you.

I believe a counselling relationship is a unique opportunity, through reflection and time together we can shine a light on your lived experience. I have experience in supporting people with grief, bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression, sexual health, anger, trauma, suicide, death anxiety, existential despair, relationship issues, money issues, alcohol addiction, drug addiction.

Every person I have worked with has different ways of coping and this is why I believe the person centred approach allows for your experience of life to be at the forefront of our therapeutic relationship. Lets start with how you are right now and take it from there, when you feel comfortable to share more with me, I will listen and understand, as best I can, your experience.

Practice description

My core philosophy to Counselling is person-centred and I have studied a number of other counselling techniques which I tailor to meet your needs. I have studied inner-child work, solution focused therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Compassion focus therapy.

I'm a qualified and registered BACP person-centred counsellor. I currently work face to face out of a charity called 'Sunflowers' in Aigburth Liverpool. This charity originally started specialising in cancer diagnosis and bereavement but has since been helping the wider community with counselling for many mental health issues. This is an easily accessible (wheelchair-friendly) building with parking at the front.

I also offer work on Rodney Street in Liverpool city centre a short walk from Cental station or Lime street Staion.

There is a room I use on Old Hall street too.

The price may vary working in the city centre but we can talk about that.

I can work on the telephone or online too.

My first session

In our first session, we will talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask questions about how the process works and discuss any concerns you have. In the subsequent sessions the work you do will be about self-discovery and about finding solutions which are right for you, rather than me giving advice or being told what to do.

If you are curious to learn more about what therapy with me might be like, we can have a free 10-15-minute phone consultation. Reaching out can be a difficult step, but there is no commitment required on your part until you are happy that I am the right fit for you and you decide you want to work with me.
