About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Michael,
In our sessions I will offer a non-judgmental and therapeutic relationship within which you will feel safe enough to explore the issues you are facing. I will treat you with respect, and offer a genuine relationship.
I believe a counselling relationship is a unique opportunity, through reflection and time together we can shine a light on your lived experience. I will offer support, reflections and challenges to enable you to find solutions that work for you.
I have experience in supporting people with grief, bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression, sexual health, anger, trauma, suicide, death anxiety, existential despair, relationship issues, money issues, alcohol addiction, drug addiction.
Practice description
I'm a qualified and registered BACP person-centred counsellor. I currently work face to face out of a charity called 'Sunflowers' in Aigburth Liverpool. This charity originally started specialising in cancer diagnosis and bereavement but has since been helping the wider community with counselling for many mental health issues.
This is an easily accessible (wheelchair-friendly) building with parking at the front.
I can also offer work on Slater Street in Liverpool city centre if that is more convenient for you. The price may vary working in the city centre but we can talk about that.
I can work on the telephone or online too.
My first session
If you are curious to learn more about what therapy with me might be like, we can have a free 10-15-minute phone consultation. Reaching out can be a difficult step, but there is no commitment required on your part until you are happy that I am the right fit for you and you decide you want to work with me.
In our first session, we will talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask questions about how the process works and discuss any concerns you have. In the subsequent sessions the work you do will be about self-discovery and about finding solutions which are right for you, rather than me giving advice or being told what to do.
