About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Silvina Capparelli, a qualified integrative counsellor using a person-centred approach. I understand the uniqueness of individuals and provide tailored therapy for each client where you can be truly honest and open. My role is to be with you as you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences – growing your self-awareness, and working towards making the changes you want to make in your life.
My own experience of counselling was life-changing in overcoming several issues that I faced years ago. In my practice today, it’s an extraordinary feeling that impacts powerfully every time I help clients find clarity and make the changes to improve their lives. I work with people from all walks of life and embrace diversity.
Reaching out for help and support is the most courageous thing to do. You might feel overwhelmed and not sure where to turn, but I’m here to help you navigate this journey.
Whatever troubles you, the first step back to well-being is reaching out for support. Perhaps you are struggling day-to-day, and you can’t see a way out of your life challenges. Therapy can help with a range of issues from anxiety, bereavement, depression, loss, low self-esteem, loss of identity, and cultural change to relationship issues, abuse, domestic violence, stress, trauma or any other issue.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I draw up therapeutical modalities such as person-centred and psychodynamic theories.Person-Centred Therapy
This therapeutic approach comes under the umbrella of Humanistic Therapy and is also known as Client-Centred therapy. Person-centred counselling is led by you with my support, listening to your story and understanding your experiences. It's a collaborative, non-judgmental space to explore thoughts and feelings to cultivate your self-awareness, move you towards self-growth, and empower you.
I will be interested to hear about how you see and experience life, support you by listening, helping you identify your own ability for self-healing and personal growth.
The overriding goal is to reconnect you with your values and sense of worth to pave the way for moving forward and progressing on the road to recovery.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy empowers you by exploring your past and your inner self to gain a deep understanding of yourself, and of how you relate to others and the world. To cope better and thrive, we need to explore our previous life experiences and relationships, as well as our unconscious mind, and the beliefs that our past left us with that we might need to unlearn and change.
Our therapeutic relationship is key - having an accepting and trusting relationship encourages you to talk freely and openly about your past. It’s all getting to the root of the problem to create long-lasting change. There may be things in your unconscious that you’re not aware of and are painful or keeping you stuck. I will help you look for these patterns and understand them so you can unravel the knots and move on with your life.
The goal of psychodynamic therapy is not to dwell on the past but to explore how prior relationships and attachments may provide insight into your current issues. By understanding these links, you can make better sense of your situation and find new ways of perceiving the world, yourself and your relationships.
