About me and my therapy practice
Examples of client issues I work with are things like:
Relationship impasse; Parent concerns about teenage anxiety; Young adult work stress to name a very few.
Feeling anxious or depressed or lonely often comes to our attention through our relationships at home or at work or in our social lives.
Our earliest attachment relationships form our blueprint for how we relate throughout life but we are continuously shaped by our environment and experiences. By unpacking our stories, we can understand the roots of our issues, learn how our emotions send us messages through our behaviour, and work out how we might begin changing our narratives.
Everyone can learn to connect in ways that increase our chances and the chances of those we share our lives with, to feel better.
Practice description
I work with couples, families (by working with parents of under 18s) and individuals who experience relationship struggles in partner, family, social, school or work situations.
I create a tailor made thereapeutic experience for each client by drawing on relational, therapeutic models, including systemic an humanistic theories, attachment theory and narrative therapy.
Appointments can be short or long term, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and ad hoc according to need. Often, change can be quicker than expected! For current fee structure, please see my website.
My first session
Following an initial free 20 minute call and completion of a 'New Client Information Form' (should you decide to go ahead and book an appointment) we will have a first session.
By the end of the first session, we will have agreed a rough plan for areas of focus, (always subject to change according to your need) and desirable and realistic goals.
For couples, session 1 is always together, session 2 is split for meeting individually and session 3 onwards partners are together (occasionally, some separate sessions can be helpful later in the therapy).
